Police officers in Woodland blew up a suspicious package left in front of City Hall Wednesday afternoon. City Hall was evacuated for nearly two hours and Court Street between First and College streets was blocked off before a bomb squad robot destroyed the package about 2:45 p.m., police said.
A bomb squad officer in a heavily padded suit then removed the debris. No one appeared to be injured.

Four blasts rock Palestinian base in Bekaa

Four large explosions ripped through a base manned by Ahmad Jibril's Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command (PFLP-GC) in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley at around noon on Wednesday. Security sources told The Daily Star that four cars from inside the camp evacuated casualties to Syria.
The sources said that the camps are located in the area that stretches between the Bekaa villages of Maissra and Juntra, located on the border between Syria and Lebanon. The sources added that the region also houses Hizbullah training camps.

EPA investigating underground chemical vapors in St. Louis park
EPA SealAt a press conference Tuesday, officials stressed there is no evidence of human exposure to the chemicals, which include perchlorethylene and trichloroethylene. But they're concerned the vapors could seep into basements. They sent a letter to about 270 residents of the southwestern suburb Monday asking to conduct tests in their homes.
