Unless the copter is in the way, the police should STFU. I don’t care if it’s Hillary, Ron Paul, Thompson, whomever, don’t hide the truth. Somebody blows up an office, people should know the world sometimes works this way.

Live footage could compromise efforts to kill or capture the assailant, by broadcasting the location and actions of snipers or dynamic entry teams right into that office for the assailant to watch.

Perhaps the police don’t want the perp to be able to see live what the police are doing outside? If they are getting SWAT team ready or whatever. I have heard police complain before about media reports tipping off bad guys in hostage situations. I know if I was one of the hostages right now I would think my right to be saved would trump other’s rights to know what is going on.

That is the statement of a clown. This is SOP.

People died needlessly at Munich because the hostage takers watched the commando teams being deployed against them on live TV and were waiting for them when they breached the perimeter.

The hostage taker should not be given any opportunity to observe what steps law enforcement are taking to shut him down.

I am a big promoter of press freedom since I once considered that as a career, but legally if the police ask you to stop filming, you need to do so.

The time to address the issue is later.

At that time, you need to comply. And in this case, I think the police have a point. The hostage taker could be watching news on the inside and know exactly when and where he will be attacked from.
