NEW BUCHANAN BOOK DECLARES 'END OF AMERICA'

Sun Nov 25 2007 20:40:15 ET

**Exclusive**

“America is coming apart, decomposing, and...the likelihood of her survival as one nation...is improbable -- and impossible if America continues on her current course," declares Pat Buchanan. "For we are on a path to national suicide.”

The best-selling author and former presidential candidate is on the eve of launching his new epic book: DAY OR RECKONING: HOW HUBRIS, IDEOLOGY AND GREE ARE TEARING AMERICA APART.

This time, Buchanan goes all the way:

"America is in an existential crisis from which the nation may not survive."

The U.S. Army is breaking and is too small to meet America’s global commitments.

The dollar has sunk to historic lows and is being abandoned by foreign governments.

U.S. manufacturing is being hollowed out.

The greatest invasion in history, from the Third World, is swamping the ethno-cultural core of the country, leading to Balkanization and the loss of the Southwest to Mexico.

The culture is collapsing and the nation is being deconstructed along the lines of race and class.

A fiscal crisis looms as the unfunded mandates of Social Security and Medicare remain unaddressed.

All these crises are hitting America at once -- a perfect storm of crises.

Specifically, Buchanan contends:

• Pax Americana, the era of U.S. global dominance, is over. A struggle for global hegemony has begun among the United States, China, a resurgent Russia and radical Islam

• Bush’s invasion of Iraq was a product of hubris and of ideology, a secular religion of “democratism,” to which Bush was converted in the days following 9/11

• Torn asunder by a culture war, America has now begun to break down along class, ethnic and racial lines.

• The greatest threat to U.S. sovereignty and independence is the scheme of a global elite to erase America’s borders and merge the USA, Mexico and Canada into a North American Union.

• Free trade is shipping jobs, factories and technology to China and plunging America into permanent dependency and unpayable debt. One of every six U.S. manufacturing jobs vanished under Bush

• “Sovereign Wealth Funds,” controlled by foreign regimes and stuffed with trillions of dollars from U.S. trade deficits, are buying up strategic corporate assets vital to America’s security

• As U.S. wages are stagnant, corporate CEOs are raking in rising pay and benefits 400 to 500 times that of their workers

• The Third World invasion through Mexico is a graver threat to our survival as one nation than anything happening in Afghanistan or Iraq

* European-Americans, 89% of the nation when JFK took the oath, are now 66% and sinking. Before 2050, America is a Third World nation

• By 2060, America will add 167 million people and 105 million immigrants will be here, triple the 37 million today.

• Hispanics will be over 100 million in 2050 and concentrated in a Southwest most Mexicans believe belongs to them

Buchanan’s Recommendations:

• A new foreign-defense policy that closes most of the 1000 bases overseas, reviews all alliances, and brings home U.S. troops

• A purge of neoconservative ideology and the “Cakewalk” crowd” from national power.

• To avert a second Cold War, the United States should “get out of Russia’s space and get out of Russia’s face,” and shut down all U.S. bases on the soil of the former Soviet Union

• To reach a cold peace in the culture war, Buchanan urges a return to federalism and the overthrow of our judicial dictatorship by Congressionally mandated restrictions on the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court.

• To end the trade deficits and save the dollar, Buchanan urges a Hamiltonian solution: a 20% Border Equity Tax on imports, with the $500 billion raised to be used to end taxation on American producers

• To prevent America becoming “a tangle of squabbling nationalities” Buchanan urges: No amnesty for the 12-20 million illegal aliens; a border fence from San Diego to Brownsville; Congressional declarations that children born to illegal aliens are not citizens and English is the language of the United States; and a “timeout” on all immigration.

Its also about attitude.
Back in my day, there were plenty of white middle class students working at resorts and casinos doing manual labor.Landscaping was a plum job back in those days.
Yet sometime ago it seemed that Megan,Shane and Josh weren’t applying for those jobs anymore. They were too busy trying to hook up law firm internships or “summering”in Europe or backpacking across Asia.It was almost as if they were saying,”We are WHITE.WE don’t do THOSE dirty jobs.Let the Mexicans and Negroes do them”
Well, the “Negroes”said they did those jobs for free for 300 years so that left the Mexicans.
And thats where we are right now.

No matter what one thinks of him. Honestly, I doubt he could be elected dogcatcher.

He is the victim of a very effective smear campaign. The general public doesn't know the truth, or care. That's why we end up with lousy politicians.

The new mantra is, "To hell with the truth if it doesn't please and appease."

Sure. Times are different now--boomers didn't have enough kids so our cheap labor is imported rather than home-grown.

Furthermore, because the richest generation had less kids, they could spend on their education and send them to Europe while divorced boomer mommy and daddy enjoyed cheap landscaping and other services....

I agree.

Yes, but the last thing Buchannan is, is a socialist. But he is a nationalist.

Yes he is. Is there anything wrong with that?

"na·tion·al·ism
n.
1) Devotion to the interests or culture of one's nation.
2) The belief that nations will benefit from acting independently rather than collectively, emphasizing national rather than international goals."

I say there is nothing wrong with it, as long as he is seeking the best national interests of the United States.

Are we foolish enough to believe that other nations have forsaken their nationalism as America is told to do?

Do you really believe that the Japanese are not nationalistic? The Germans? The Chinese?

How about Mexico? Hell no! By and large they are coming here not to be Americans, but to conquer America.

Hopefully, you and enough other people are aware enough of what is going on to save this nation.

In any case, I think that Pat Buchanan is dedicated to doing the same job as Paul Revere did for his countrymen 200 years ago.

I have looked a good deal into Buchanan's history in this regard and Bill Buckley's judgement on him and Joe Sobran. My opinon is that Buchanan was -- in the beginning -- politically incorrect, irreverent, and not friendly to Jews, as a political force, although quite cordial to individual Jews.
I think that we can both agree that Joe Sobran is an antisemite.

I think that being essentially subjected to a thought crimes inquisitional judgement sent him a bit around the bend. I could not understand, for example, his decision to take up the defense of John Demjanjuk. I have subsequently come to accept this matter, and some other Buchanan behavior, as an aggressive refusal to be intellectually intimidated.
The problem is taht Buchana never looked at the bigger question of Demjanjuk's involvement in the SS. Demjanjuk's was proven not to be Ivan the Terrible thanks to evidence that proved that he was a volunteer SS guard at another camp.
Moreover, Buchanan's comment about diesel fumes puts him into a revisionist catagory.

ews are often able to shut people up with the charge of anti-Semitism, but it does not win many friends, does not persuade many people that they are wrong in some bit of politically incorrect thinking.
I agree. However, people are also defending either anti-Semitism or debatable anti-Zionist positions by saying "how dare you question me, you are censoring me with the charge of antisemitism."

A bold few will not be shut up. I think this is the case with Buchanan.
Sometimes, one should question whether the charge has merit, rather than getting pissed off.

But paleo conservatives have a huge legitimate beef with the role that Jews have predominantly played in American politics, which I think most fair-minded people would agree was -- at least until the advent of the neocon movement -- overwhelmingly in support of every left wing cause that has ever come up. And even now, the overwhelming majority of Jews continue to be liberals.
There are a number of issues here. Liberalism is not Jewish or pro-Jewish. Jews are liberal generally because of a minority complex. The problem comes with those who attack Judaism as the problem rather than liberalism or the persecution complex. Others, ie Kevin MacDonald, will make ahistorical claims that new and openly suicidal behavior is part of a survival tactic.
I also find it ironic that many paleoconservatives pick up a persecution comlex of their own, mirroring the behavior they hate.

Lately, I have taken a darker view. It seems to me that traditional conservatives are being used by the neocons, many of whom are as emotionally attached to Israel as to the USA.
I understand taht. However, this can also be a tool to change the opinion of those Jewish neocons (and most neocons are not Jewish) who make unprinciples exceptions for Israel. They accept nationalism in practice, but not theory. Instead of being attacked, they should be debated on merits.

Neocons have tended to continue support for the century-long push by Jews to maximize immigration so as to create a multicultural/multiethnic/multireligious America where Jews would feel more comfortable.
The problem is that this policy was never rational, hurts Jewish interests, and doesn't make Jews actually feel comfortable. Rather than yelling Jews, the prioblem is minority politics and atavistic fears.

This is not emotion or bigotry; this is interest politics. After years of being extremely Jew-friendly, I am now extremely unhappy that Jews -- even my new necon friends -- are mostly eager to continue the project to bust up the core culture of America, which is ethnically European, religiously Christian, and linguistically Anglofone.
The issue thare is inherent with liberalism adn neoconservatism (right-liberalism).

So I see that the role of American Jews has been traditionally to support leftwing and subversive projects, including the ACLU and CPUSA among many others, and now that a substantial number of Jews have broken with the old guard and come over to the GOP, they seem mostly concerned with their traditional interests: Israel and (destructive) social liberalism and especially massive immigration, legal or illegal. Of course, I should also give the neocons credit for recognizing that the USSR was evil, although unfortunately not recognizing it until the struggle was nearly over.
Social liberalism is not traditionally Jewish. Much of it stems from opposition t oactual Jewish beliefs, which are far less liberal than modern American Christian beliefs. It is minority politics, and an obsession with the liberalism cultivated only recently.
I would suggest that you check if these Jews follow Jewish law and if they believe in restricting immigration in Israel to actual Jews.
Personally, I dislike liberal Jews because their policies are bad for America, bad for Israel, bad for the West and they hide it behind a false religious veneer.

So I am willing to look again at the cause of Israel and ask myself why I feel so intensely supportive of this country other than that I am brainwashed to feel that way. Sure, the Israelis are civilized people opposed by barbarian and that goes a long way. But truly, Israel is not my cause...it is not my heartland, my homeland. American Jew have mostly acted ~against~ my interests so why should I be so dedicated to this cause?
See you dislike liberal Jews for liberalism, and are applying it to Israel. I'm not asking you to love Israel. However, there are non-liberal reasons to like Israel. It is a western nation. It is a bulwark against the creation of an Islamic caliphate. Finally, Zionism probably keeps many liberal Jews from falling towards utter deracinated lunacy as Churchill wisely wrote in 1921. It provides an opportunity, if you take it.

I think that SergeiRachmoninov is not a lost cause. Banning him will do no good and will only feed the anger and feeling of persecution he holds.

Buchanan was just on Hannity and Butthead. He is correct about immigration but he is not when it comes to Islam and Iraq. I do agree with him that we should remove our troops from Europe and Korea.

More attempts by Adolph Buchanan to demonize Hispanics as anti-American. Hispanics are a vital part to both the country and the Republican party unlike little pattie. Maybe that's why pattie hates them so much: they're welcome in our party and he's not. Conservatives would be wise to denounce pattie and embrace their fellow Americans whether Hispanic or non Hispanic.

Is Huntington a Nazi too? Read it, you might learn something rather than just emoting. Talk substance, not feelings.

In my experience, Pat tends to be right...eventually. He tends to not look at “now” so much as “now + 10 years”. I would argue that we ignore him at our peril.

Being America First does not mean financially supporting Hamas or kissing Hezbollah’s behind. Pat suppports this. He’s is an appeaser first and foremost.

What you appear to be referring to is when the US supported free elections and it blew up in our face when they went for Hamas or Hezbollah.

All Buchanan was saying is we can't change the rules just because we don't like the outcome. Before we run around the world extolling the virtues of democracy, we better take a good look at who the electorate would be.

There is no way that many people are going to be forcefully deported or pressured to voluntarily leave. Not only would it be further devastation to our economy, it would immoral and un-American to break up millions of families and force them out of their homes. Any attempts to do so would likely result in rebellion and civil war. So not only does pattie want to destroy our economy and let islamofacists attack us unabated, he also wants to plunge our country into civil war (I'm sure pattie is hoping that it will also result in a race war).

So newbie, what do you recommend we do with the 13 to 30 million people who have entered our country illegally, committed ID theft, failed to pay taxes, etc. Are you one of those who favors granting amnesty, i.e., legalizing their status here? What kind of message does that send to others who want to come here illegally or legally? What does it say about the rule of law? You seem to believe that we can't enforce our laws because the criminals will start a rebellion. Has this country sunk to that level of impotency that we are so intimidated about enforcing our laws that we accept it as a fait accompli? Where does it end? Should we even bother trying to enforce our borders? Are we no longer a sovereign nation?

If you legalize their status, they can then sponsor their family members under chain migration and family reunification, which means tens of millions more will come in legally shortly thereafter. In 1986 when we had a "one-time" amnesty, the USG estimated that one million would apply. The number turned out to be three million.
