Another farmer trying to save one minute, ends up losing a lot more than a little time.

Apparently lockout/tagout isn't real common with farmers yet.

That being said it takes some real "huevos" to cut your arm off. There was a hiker that did the same thing a while back and in Oregon a couple years ago a kid running farm machinery (those crazy farmers) got his arm chopped off. He pick up his arm, walked 1/2 mile to the truck, and drove himself while lapsing in and out of consciousness home. He got life flighted and the arm was reattached.

I was President of my local chapter of the FFA and we heard about this stuff all the time. The ag teacher beat it into us - NEVER work on the machines with them running. Local high school basketball coach farmed on a part time basis, lost a couple of fingers to a combine. Got a buddy who lived in different rural community who told me about several farmers in his church that had a hook on one arm.

I agree that it would take major huevos to cut your own arm off. Most of the guys I reference above either had the flesh torn off, or mangled so badly that it had to be surgically removed.

Which brings me to a bad joke. You know what "Coyote ugly" is. Do you know what "Double Coyote Ugly" is? It's when she's so ugly that you chew the other arm off so it never happens again.
