Since Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA) is apparently going to explore the possibility of running for president in 2008, I thought I'd dig up some of his roll call votes. Like most Republicans, he's strong on tax cuts, but he's been part of the big government spending spree of the last 6 years. He also has a protectionist streak in him. Here are some of the more troubling votes:
NO on NAFTA
YES on No Child Left Behind
YES on Sarbanes-Oxley
YES on the 2003 Medicare Drug Benefit
NO on CAFTA
YES on 2005 Highway Bill
YES on the 527 bill (like most Republicans, he flip-flopped, having first voted NO on McCain-Feingold)
Hunter also went 0 for 19 on the Flake anti-pork amendments.
Despite being a member of the Republican Study Committee, Hunter frequently votes NO on their fiscally conservative annual budgets (2006, 2005, 2003...)
We gave him a 49% on the 2005 Club for Growth scorecard. That places him 187th within the House GOP conference, out of roughly 230 members.
National Taxpayers Union shows a more telling trend. He was strong in the early 1990s, getting "B's" and one "A", but as time went by, like most politicians, his score dropped. For the past few years, he's been getting "C's".
Lame.
Sarbanes-Oxley has been a disaster and the Club for Growth isn’t doing anything wrong by pointing out Hunter’s votes.
**************
Club for Growth is cherry picking 2 votes made by Hunter, because Club for Growth has a hidden agenda. Why don’t they lay on the table Hunter’s entire economic voting record. They are as dishonest as a global warming “scientist” from the United Nations.
Remember wishing doesn’t make it so.
I was around 10 feet away in person when Hannity was interviewing Fred and if this is what we would put up, the dems will walk over us with no effort.
2 votes for 2 really big spending bills. and medicare is going broke...totally irresponsible to expand it of all things.
but its not just 2 votes.

Go ahead, tell me your favorite boy, so I can cherry pick a few of their spending votes. Go ahead, who is your favorite boy. I will use some Clintonesque techniques on you.

Class warfare politics?
I believe you're looking for the party down the hall and to the LEFT.

Duncan Hunter would be a terrific POTUS:
Duncan Hunter is the ONLY candidate who thoroughly understands the Communist China threat.
Duncan Hunter is the ONLY candidate who had a fence built at the San Diego border.
Duncan Hunter is the ONLY candidate that authored the bill for a fence from CA thru TX which was signed into law.
Duncan Hunter is the ONLY candidate that has a son that did three tours in the Middle East, two tours in Iraq (including Fallujah) and the third tour in Afghanistan.
Hunter and Brownback (but Brownback dropped out) were the only presidential candidates to attend the pro-life march in D.C., Hunter fought the aclu to keep the Mt. Soledad cross, Hunter fought to allow students to pray in schools, and President Reagan even called Hunter and praised him for his fight, and Hunter introduces the personhood-at-conception law each year.
Duncan Hunter was Chairman of the Armed Services Committee (when the Republicans had the majority), gave us ABS deployed in Alaska, and Hunter built up the defense that Bill Clinton tore down, and got equipment and weapons to protect our troops, and our country.
you get rid of an imbalance by cutting govt spending and taxes, not increasing them.

Only someone from Code Pink will bash someone on the House Armed Services Committee for spending during a time of war. Are you from Code Pink? Maybe your an underhanded Paul supporter.
I guess being from Mississippi, I don’t even have no trailer neither. Maybe I can get Haley Barbour to done git me one of ‘dem nice Katrina jobs. He ain’t
t no Conservative like you Governor the Terminator, but he’ll do rite nicely in pinch.
Now I done got to mosey, this here fancy talk done tuckered me out and muh sister's a waitin’
If you compare Freds overall spending to Hunter...the answer is clear:
Freds not perfect, but hes miles ahead of Hunter when it comes to fiscal responsibility.

Good job Code Pink, punish Hunter for funding the military during a time of war.
Tancredo is my favorite...but I have a duty to vote for fred so that Rudy won’t be nominated.
he believes in our military as long as they stay home and not do anything.
It’s mostly a lie, if not all of it.
Right, well I ain’t none near smart enough seein’ that I am down har from in da south, but iffin’ I done be readin’ the latest political polls rite I reckon old Freddy boy done got him an RCP average of 14.8 and Rasmussen shows him tied anong the good ol’ boys in South Carolina (they have them fancy trailers there)
So I guess there is a wishin’ and there is a wishin’...
Tancredo is my favorite...but I have a duty to vote for fred so that Rudy wont be nominated.

Fred is a carbon copy of Bush. If Fred gets elected, more free-trade, more illegals, minor tax cuts.
But in post #59, you said you were a Hunter supporter before switching to Fred.
Phew! It's tough keepin' all these stories straight!
I support Fred. Tancredo is my favorite...but NOBODY is supporting him. Not even the dozen or so Hunter supporters would consider him it seems. I wonder if he will even vote for himself.
You can keep your Col. Cornpone.
Just glad my 3rd great grandfathers fought in the Union Army. They did real good in Tenn. GA and Miss.
