There isn’t really a way to determine what happened in this case. They don’t really state what was done before pronouncing him brain dead. Possibly protocols weren’t followed because of some mistake. If this is true, those involved will likely lose their jobs, and they should.
From time to time there are some medically inexplicable occurances. That is also a possibility, but we will probably never know what really happened. The details of his condition and prognosis are very vague. It is hard to tell whether he is expected to recover or not. Although, I truly hope that he does. I have seen plenty of young boys who were not so lucky, and it is truly tragic to lose someone so young.
