I can count on one hand the number of people who "tried" drugs - with the implication that it was an experiment and never repeated.

Is "I tried drugs" supposed to imply that you didn't continue using? I guess so.

It's better than, "I tried drugs once, then waited until the next weekend to try them again. I liked it so much that I started trying them every weekend, then I tried them every day for several years (I was later told). I stopped trying drugs when I was arrested - but I only quit trying drugs for a little while. After that, I tried them again for several years - morning, noon and night - until I ran for office. During that time I tried being more careful. Now I don't admit to trying drugs anymore."

Tried smoking pot a few times. Heart palpitations, nausea, and asthma cured me quickly (also the nutty people who became mean and paranoid.)

Hey, it was the 70’s!
