I agree with your post. I just wanted to point out that the main elements of “redacted” actually happened.

What I really reject in our Iraq and Afghanistan wars are the element of collective punishment against civilian populations and our over-reliance on airpower to supress terrorists.

We are injuring and killing civilians by mistake every day, and are building an inventory of people who just want us to leave. ISTR that a poll taken had over eighty percent of the Iraqis just want us to leave.

I guess the question to the group is: Why haven’t we left yet?

We'll leave when our leaving doesn't cause worse problems than our staying. And to deliberately leave a weak Iraq surrounded by Syria and Iran for no better reason than that people don't like it at the moment would cause a lot worse trouble down the road, for us and for them, than we've yet seen.
