Sorry, I thought you were referring to methane production.

Producing hydrogen from methane is a bad idea - it's too inefficient. However, producing hydrogen from water by electrolysis or the action of microorganisms seems to be a viable process.

No need to apologize, I hope I didn't come off as being offended or rude, just relating my experience and knowledge.

Producing Hydrogen from water is also very energy intensive. It consumes far more energy than it produces in hydrogen, so you need a large source of energy. Usually that means a nuclear power plant nearby.
