Pretty soon it will be time for President Bush to address the nation with a speech about the successes in Iraq and some of the troop reductions made possible by that and Iraqi’s assuming increased responsibility.

The Media is just waiting for another “Mission Accomplished” moment. If he spoke, the next IED or shooting would be front-page, lead story news.
I think it is best for people like us to push this story right now. Of course, the MSM will still ignore it, but word of mouth is the best advertising.
That's what I have been doing for a month now. When any liberals friends, or uninformed Conservative friends, mention Iraq I simply say: "Oh Iraq, we've won." The lib friends get panic sticken when I say it and the Conservatives simply ask me for more information.
I think he could moderate it by just reporting the facts on the ground as a promising trend rather than “Mission Accomplished”. The press would be hard pressed to defy the facts. The fact that a Brigade of the 1st Cav. from Dyala province is coming home within a couple of weeks isn’t getting a lot of “ink”.
The US military will declare VICTORY in Iraq by March of 2008.
Oh, I agree the administration has done a poor job of communicating our recent successes in Iraq. In fact, the whole “Mission Accomplished” thing was allowed to become fact framed by the Leftist Media.
Those sailors had accomplished their mission.
But, no matter what he says, it will be spun by the MSM. W has not been a good communicator (although he’s great in person). When he is on his game, the MSM doesn’t report it or show it, anyway. He has been undermined since the day he took office and they’ll do it until he leaves.
It’s going to take a BIG personality to overcome the MSM bias.
I accidentally left the TV on MSNBC this morning. They were reporting on the reduction in casualties. Lots of BIG numbers and a lot of “buts.”
But they were reporting it.
Wouldn’t that be something if they stated that for all practical purposes the insurgency and sectarian violence has come to an end, and all the provinces will now be turned over to the Iraqi Security forces. Remaining US Forces will be redeployd to Iran and Syria borders to enforce border security. Logistic, Training and Air Support will continue to be supplied to the Iraqi forces until they are capable of standing alone. The Democrats would have a hissy fit over something like this.
I saw that on Morning Joe and Mika was squirming a grinding her teeeth.
It is going to happen :)
The govt. has reported that war deaths are lower now than
in the Carter era...and we didn’t have any wars then ! Let’s get things in perspective.
