Breaking News Alert

Gov. Eliot Spitzer is abandoning his plan to issue driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, saying that opposition is just too overwhelming to move forward with such a policy.

The governor, who is to announce the move formally on Wednesday, said in an interview Tuesday night that he did not reach the decision easily. “You have perhaps seen me struggle with it because I thought we had a principled decision, and it’s not necessarily easy to back away from trying to move a debate forward,” he said.

Move the debate forward? Who's Spitzer kidding, he tried to ram it down everyone's throat. And it was done for votes. What fools he takes us for...

Okay, so what about the other states that allow illegals to have licenses? Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

What can be done with states populated by spineless constituents?

Tough call on licenses and states rights because the stupidity in some of them is endangering us all. I see your point though about firearms and they’ll have a fight on their hands if they go too far with that.

Before you answer that, it is understood that anything not addressed in the Constitution is a States Right. (My Belief)
The Right to Life is addressed.

His major accomplishments this year: 1)Tailing Joe Bruno 2)A well thought out plan to get illegals to vote Democratic under the guise of license expansion. Can’t wait to see what 2008 brings.

He also promised to tax the Oneida Indian Casino and low and behold last week he backed out of that promise.

The casino is illegal, even the Supreme Court ruled that the Oneida's cannot take land of the tax rolls that are not part of the reservation. (Scalia wrote the opinion.) The Oneidas have a casino on land that is not part of the reservation yet they will not pay any taxes. They are filthy rich from the casino and the other people in my county are paying the highest sales taxes in the state. The Oneida Indians are super citizens. They get away with gambling, not paying taxes, they will not let the Bureau of Weights and Measures verify that they are giving a true gallon of gas at the gas stations they own. They bought every gas station in the area. They pay no sales tax yet they charge almost exactly the same price.

The Oneida Indians are "living large" while the rest of us peasants are sucking wind. Spitzer promised he would collect taxes but backed down. Obviously, someone got to him $$.

What’s up with that? I thought the Clintons were in favor of illegals taking over America, too...

Boss Spitzer and Herself the First of Charlatan are two pees in a pod. They stink of the stench of rancor, they seethe with the notion of their absolute power, they writhe with joy thinking of dominating their brothers and sisters, and they will suffer the same fate as all of us with Islamo-facists, beheading.

By know means do I portend to say what you represent, but want to clarify to the thread that if the Constitution did not cover it then it becomes a states rights issue. (No reflection to the debater)

Hillary’s support for it will haunt her campaign. The damage has been done to her and when she is called on it by the republican nominee during a debate and in political ads, it will help destroy her chances to win the presidency.

Licenses should be a states rights issue and always has been but 9/11 kind of changed everything. It'd be interesting if someone challenged the REAL ID on constitutional grounds and what the result would be. If only states would do the responsible thing, giving out licenses to illegals is just crazy.

Let’s hope Fred Dicker gets the real goods on him and it sticks. Nothing would make me happier than to see Boss Spitzer brought to a NYS Senate Trial for impeachment during Herself’s the First of Charlatan “Campaign” and being convicted and thrown out on his rich boy’s arse, never to bother us again.

I believe that is why we see the sanctuary whatevers. The States must go with the understanding of their electors.

That just may happen yet. Troopergate is heating up again big time, even the liberal Daily News thinks they may have the goods to possibly cause Spitzer a whole bunch of problems. I think in a few months he'll be wishing we were discussing licenses instead of what's coming.
