I am publicly stating who I support for the 2008 Republican nominee for President, California Representative, Duncan Hunter. Why? The reasons are many but the primary underlying reason is, he better than any other candidate, be they Republican or Democrat, at understand the world landscape both economically and politically. His over all goal is a stronger more protected America.
Hunter, more than any other name on the ballot, is a student of history, not just recent history, he, as they say, sees the big picture. Unlike politicians of the past who have given away the American Dream as a good faith gesture to the world, Hunter wants to protect what is ours. On a regular basis, we always seems to be the ones extending the olive branch to the world only to have it stepped on.
In recent weeks he has spoken out harshly about the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) as it gives US sovereignty of the sea to (gulp) the UN. Hunter stated that:
It is imperative that our nation does not surrender decision making power for military navigation or resource extraction, especially in this age of terrorism with technology and weapons proliferation. And adding a new set of UN bureaucrats with license to tax and adjudicate disputes is the last thing this country needs. Rest assured no treaty that infringes on the sovereignty of the United States, or further empowers the United Nations, will get anything but a trip to the waste basket in a Hunter Administration.
See what I mean? This guy gets it!
He is the only candidate who consistently sees China as someone we should be cautious of, while everyone else sees China as a former Communist nation on the brink of democracy. Other see their exploding market as a potential for American big business to blossom, while Hunter sees the same thing, he is thinking of America first, the business executives second.
Just today he released a press release in which he publicly calls on Mitt Romney, founder of Bain Capital and Republican presidential candidate, to put an end to a business deal with a Chinese company who is negociating for the acquisition of US defense conractor 3COM. The kicker here is that the founder of this company is an officer of the Peoples Liberation Army of Communist China and is being accused of providing Saddam Hussein with the technology to target US aircraft and helping the Taliban develop surveillance equipment.
Hunter said to Romney in writing;
I am extremely concerned that Governor Romneys company would tout a highly suspect Chinese corporation as a strategic partner, stated Hunter. Forming a business partnership with a corporation known to have direct ties with terrorists and dictators while, at the same time, openly seeking to acquire a major U.S. corporation that performs vital cyber security work for the Department of Defense, can only be characterized as irresponsible.
What other candidate would step out and do the right thing like this? Duncan Hunter does his homework, that is what will make him a very effective POTUS. This wasnt a political ploy, this was Hunter looking out for America, for you and me.

The more you read about him, the more, I am sure, you will realize that he sees things the way most Amiercans do.
I agree 100%.
I have a girlfriend that thinks the same way. She believes only Rudy can beat Hillary! I see little difference between the two. We cannot, will not, win out of fear, only out of moral courage. You don't fight evil with “sorta evil”, especially against the beast!
After conservatives realize that Giuliani, Romney and Thompson have no clothes, Hunter will quickly rise to the top. (They’ve already known for a very long time that McCain and Huckabee haven’t had a stitch on.)
>Hunter is a second tier candidate. He has no chance of winning. Ditto Huckabee, Tancredo, and Paul.
Yeah. We should vote for one of the “front runner” candidates who will ...
1) run up the national debt
2) leave the borders open
3) abandon the unborn children to abortion
See my tagline ...
“And what’s he got to show for it? He’s not known to be a leader”
I disagree. He is a very capable leader. What he isn’t is someone who slaps himself on the back and tells everyone, “Look at me, ain’t I great?”.
Maybe it’s time for us to move beyond the political grandstanders and those who owe favors to everyone and their brothers. Maybe it’s time we elected a man who doesn’t bow before the political elite. Duncan Hunter is his own man, he isn’t owned by anyone else. If he was, his election coffers would be full. Big donors don’t donate, they buy.
“I dont recall ever having harassed you? The article wasnt harassing as far as I can tell? The obvious question here is, what are you talking about?. Either I have missed something here, or you have blown a headpipe somewhere along the way.”
No need to be so defensive.
i think you’ve “blown a headpipe somewhere along the way.”
HOWEVER...
The office of President is not the office of Congressman.
You have to demonstrate an even approach to ALL topics that are of interests to all voters, not just hardcore conservatives and FR members. Its a national office.
As far as being all those men, while that’s a fun thought and he is a great guy, I think that is a bit much. Even if he was any one of them it would be enough I should think.
Hunter is sounding better all the time. Some of you wahoos on the other hand.....
Please keep the discussion about the candidates, not your ego, some other poster’s ingnorance, or someone’s arrogance or such.
I think, if I have this right, you are all expressing opinions about presidential candidates (or supposed to be). Enlighten me, but don’t tell me or others here we are morons.
Stick to facts if you want to tell someone they are wrong.
I have seen and heard and read Duncan Hunter address a myriad of other problems in the country, and address them with his typical cool head and steady handed solid solutions. He is the ONLY candidate qualified to be president on either side of the aisle today. Period. Got that? Good. :)
Way to go, ups! :)
You didn’t read what I said. I didn’t say that Hunter “isn’t a leader.” I said that he’s “not known to be a leader.” He’s hidden himself under a bushel basket for all of his years in the House. He hasn’t done anything to put himself in front of the American people so that they know who he is.
BUMP!
I haven’t decided who to vote for yet AuntB but I like your attitude. It is direct on. This is the PRIMARY for crying out loud. You don’t listen to the LIBERAL Media about who can win in the PRIMARY. YOU VOTE WHO YOU THINK IS BEST FOR THE COUNTRY. DONT LISTEN TO PUSH POLLS.
Ravenstar
It sure ain’t!!...!!!!
And Thompson is? lol!
No one knows who he is outside of California mostly.
And few knew of Thompson before his TV show. Does that make him any more quailfied?
If wanted to run for POTUS, he should have done the necessaries beginning several years back.
Is that what Thomopson did? No. His Hollywood experience is just that. It no more qualified him to be POTUS than Martin Sheen's playing a president qualified him.
BTW, your mathematics is misleading. Thompson has more than "8 years" of political experience.
Really? He has 8 yeras in the senate, nothing more. Unless you count lobbying as political experience which I don't.
>As far as being all those men, while that’s a fun thought and he is a great guy, I think that is a bit much. Even if he was any of them it would be enough I would think.<
So Put the candle back! (Oh, excuse me, I am watching Young Frankenstein :) )
Since he happens to be all three of them, can we count on your vote?
I stated the facts that exist. Nobody knows who Hunter is. You can blow all of the smoke that you want about Thompson, it won’t change Hunter’s situation. Add that to a poor campaign organization for a national election, and you have Hunter in the single digits.
Duncan Hunter is going before the American people now with a very fine resume. A lifetime of achievements that would make any conservative proud.
Many people know who the other candidates are but can they tell you what they have done? Can they tell you why their past deeds makes them uniquely qualified to be POTUS?
Name recognition has gotten the frontrunners only into the twentysome percentile. Why can’t they grow beyond that? If they threw Paris Hilton into the mix, I would bet she would also poll in the twentysome percentile. Would that mean she should be president?
btw, she could possibly beat Hillary, if that is our only criteria.
Perhaps.
We don't get the best, we get the Party Nominee.
Then we vote for the nominee against Hillary.
That's how it works. Did you know?
“So Put the candle back!”
LOL!! I love that movie! You must be watching TVLand.
