I think the whole high cholesterol scare is a hoax. I know too many very healthy and active people who report high cholesterol to believe it is really some sort of health crisis. If you’re fat, out of shape, and don’t eat right chances are you’re going to get sick. Cholesterol schlmesterol.

Bingo!

People are just to damn lazy to eat right & exercise and want a pill to make it all better.

I have high cholesteral but don’t take medicine for it. Don’t want to. I work out a lot and am in good shape. I had a doctor tell me I’d have to eat nothing but carrots to lower my cholesteral even a little bit. It’s just inherited. My grandmother just died at 97 and had cholesteral over 500.

The funny thing is when I tried to get personal training throught the Y they asked me some medical questions. One was if I had high cholesteral. I should have lied because they refused to train me because of it. Ridiculous.

My grandfather ate biscuits, grits, and “strick-o-lean” every day of his life. He had a heart attack.....at age 90!
I think he considered it a blessing because he and my grandmother lived in their own house instead of a nursing home and he died without ever being an invalid or having to depend on others for his care.

And that’s exactly what many young people are. And doctors would rather drug you than suggest a change in diet and lifestyle. Some will.

Cholesterol schlmesterol.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I am with you all the way! The doctors try to get me to take statins but I steadfastly refuse. I am 63 years old, 6 feet and 4 inches tall and weigh between 265 and 270. I am stronger than I have ever been in my life before, work out with weights three times a week, ride a bicycle when I get the chance and do whatever heavy physical work I want to do, including moving concrete blocks by hand, swinging a nine pound maul and digging with a shovel (all within the past week) the same as I did thirty years ago. My resting heart rate is usually around 65 and my blood pressure is lower than it was when I was in my twenties. I take Dr. Whitaker’s vitamin formula and Dr. Jarvis’s Vermont folk medicines, vinegar, honey and cinnamon. The doctors who want me to take statins couldn’t keep up with me for ten minutes despite being younger than I am. I don’t know why God has blessed me so generously but I am certainly grateful.
My stepdaughter just told me that her cholesterol is down to 174 and the doctor wants it down to AT MOST 150! What will it take to end this madness! She won’t listen to me, I have tried to warn her but she thinks the doctor knows something.

I think you are right. Half of all heart attack victims have high cholesterol levels and half have normal levels.
