Sen. Inhofe Slams Gore and Climate Alarmism in Historic Two Hour Speech By Noel Sheppard Created 2007-10-26 17:14

Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), the Ranking Member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, delivered a startling and historic two hour speech on the Senate floor Friday about "recent developments which are turning 2007 into a ‘tipping point' for climate alarmism."

The Senator cautioned that bills being proposed by various members of Congress "come at a time when the science is overwhelmingly taking away the basis for alarm." These "so-called ‘solutions' to global warming...will have no measurable impact on the climate," and "will create huge economic harm for American families and the poor residents of the developing world who may see development hindered by unfounded climate fears."

In addition, Inhofe went right after the Global Warmingist-in-Chief Al Gore, as well as others in the media responsible for inciting all this hysteria (partial video of the speech available here [1]):

We are currently witnessing an international awakening of scientists who are speaking out in opposition to former Vice President Al Gore, the United Nations, the Hollywood elitists and the media-driven "consensus" on man-made global warming.

We have witnessed Antarctic ice GROW to record levels since satellite monitoring began in the 1970's. We have witnessed NASA temperature data errors that have made 1934 -- not 1998 -- the hottest year on record in the U.S. We have seen global averages temperatures flat line since 1998 and the Southern Hemisphere cool in recent years.

These new developments in just the last six months are but a sample of the new information coming out that continues to debunk climate alarm.

After this introduction, Inhofe spoke about:

* Hollywoodans like Leonardo DiCaprio and Laurie David targeting children with climate fears * Four essential points which totally debunk global warming hysteria * Various entities that are distorting the facts and ignoring the climate history of Greenland * Antarctic ice rising to its highest level since records have been kept * The southern hemisphere is already experiencing a cooling from its 1998 peaks * The weather measurement scandal at NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies * Climate fears are largely being driven by unproven computer models * Al Gore's refusal to accept wagers or engage in debates concerning his theories * Hysteria over polar bear extinction has absolutely no observable validity * The number of former warm-mongers that have become skeptics * Science not being determined by consensus * Politics governing the UN's IPCC * $50 Billion having been spent internationally on spreading global warming fears * Skeptics being labeled as traitors * Hundreds of skeptical scientists to be heard from in upcoming Senate report * Carbon mandates don't reduce temperatures

The Senator passionately concluded:

In conclusion, I would simply point out that climate alarmism has become a cottage industry in this country and many others, but a growing number of scientists and the general public are coming around to the idea that climate change is natural and that there is no reason for alarm. It is time to stop pretending that the world around us is headed for certain doom and that Kyoto-style policies will save us - when in fact, the biggest danger lies in these policies themselves. As I have noted, new studies continue to pile up debunking alarm and debunking the very foundation for so called "solutions" to warming.

I know this was a long, long speech, but I just want the real people, not the money driven liberals and the Hollywood elitists, but the real people who are out there raising their families and working hard to know that help is on its way and that all the UN and media driven hype to sell American down the river will fail.

And that truth, as Winston Churchill said, "is incontrovertible, ignorance can deride it, panic may resent it, malice may destroy it, but there it is."

Bravo, Senator! Bravo!

Regarding Dr, Bell and the film ""The Great Global Warming Swindle." - in my post # 14 and 15 - Here's is another link to Dr. Bell's site and on that is a link to the Hannity & Colmes show he did in march = great piece - Colmes got his panties twisted for him.

http://www.nrsp.com/people-timothy-ball.html

I'm a little disconcerted at the seeming lack of interest with this thread - this is vital - much more important than the Simpson arrest. How many hundreds of posts did that generate?

Senator Inhofe has stepped up to the plate - for TWO hours, folks. He wasn't just giving it a little mention so's he could say, 'well, I tried."

He has bearded the Liars in their den. He has broken the ice in Gore's insidious scam. He has taken point for us.Now, are we going just sit back and let him swing in the wind, or are we going to grab this moment and turn it into momentum while the media is paying attention?

We need to grab this and, joining in behind Inhofe and Dr. Bell and his long list of scientists,

Refer to my post 14 and 15 for the links...and the action we need to take re: the Discovery Channel

WE have an opportunity here, folks. Let's not let it pass us by.

I’m a proud consituent of Senator Inhoffe and can say that in all regards he is one fine conservative on all issues. It’s too bad that he won’t be running for President, but I don’t think that is even a consideration for him. He represents his state and I don’t think he has any further aspirations than that. We in Oklahoma have been blessed with his leadership. We also had a great Representative in J.C. Watts. He took his pledge of term limits seriously and didn’t seek re-election after two terms...shame in my opinion.
Cheers.

“Inhofe spoke about [...] skeptics being labeled as traitors”

Ahh. The irony.

“Global Warming Alarmists are much more dangerous to this country right now than the Jihadists”

So should we go easier on the Jihadists or arrest people who fear the planet is warming and hold them indefinately, in secret, and without right to counsel?

Any politician who give credence to AGW should be shunned and ridiculed no matter what party they belong to. Good for Inhofe.

This is true only because the first will allow the second the opportunity to finish us off.

The Jihadists are the real threat that will take advantage of weakness (the global warming alarmists and their distractive and counter productive policies).

You object to how the Jihadists have been held in Gitmo?

That is the first thing that comes through from your post. I am not - these Gitmo prisoners are prisoners of war. We are still at war.

Would I want the Global Warming Alrarmists imprisoned like those at Gitmo? No, we are not officially "at war" with these alarmists.

However, the danger from the Global Warming Alarmists to our economic well being which, in turn, will impact the living and dying of millions of Americans.....is much more inisidious and difficult to fight because their DANGER to America is NOT as obvious. We have not had a GW 9 11 yet.

That is what is so maddening about this "false alarm". Once the impact of these lies is felt by "the masses", the damage will already be done and will be very difficult to recover from.

It takes clear-eyed truthtellers like Sen. Inhofe and many more like him to stop the lies NOW before their own 9-11 occurs in this country.

Well that’s one way to look at it. When our economy crumbles because of bans on gas powered automobiles, except for the elite, and bicycles and their ilke become the preferred mode of travel, when air travel is banned except for the elite, when depopulation becomes the mantra and the elderly line up for euphanasia rooms........except for the relatives of the elite.....and, God help us, when TP is limited to only 1 sheet per trip....or worse....as in many countries....is unavailable....LOL.....we will be too weak economically to fight the Jihadists or the Russians or the Chinese or even Hugo, the new nuclear power of this hemisphere.....
