Satellite Photos Show Cleansing of Syrian Site

New commercial satellite photos show that a Syrian site believed to have been attacked by Israel last month no longer bears any obvious traces of what some analysts said appeared to have been a partly built nuclear reactor.

It’s close to the Euphrates river. See the building labled ‘possible pumping station’?

Just 1 bomb was dropped? They fly that far into Syrian airspace with just 1 plane just to drop 1 bomb? Not very likely. The site is about 1000 miles from the northern tip of Israel, one way. A couple hour flight each way. 1 plane and 1 bomb? No way.

Agreed. OTOH, these days they quite literally could have dropped ten bombs into the same smoking hole.

To be fair, the Israelis gave them a hand with that process. Thanks E.

The water for the Palo Verde Nuke Plant near Phoenix is brought in by pipeline. I think they used mostly reclaimed sewer water. Also because of the climate they don’t have the traditional cooling towers. The heat exchangers and fans just sit on the ground.

I never said anything about one plane. And I was being a little cavalier, with the 1 bomb notion. Still it would not take very many. Several smaller bombs, with different aim points on the building, would probably do a better job, but you'd still end up with one big crater, or more properly several overlapping smaller craters. I would not expect more than two bomb droppers, with at least one more "in reserve" but not used. Then you'd have escorts, configured for air to air, and maybe some "Wild Weasel", or whatever the Israelis call the SEAD aircraft to suppress any ground based air defenses that managed to get on line. ... and of course both escort and stand off jammers as needed, if self protection jamming was not thought sufficient.

I think the Gates of Hell opened on them when the Baathists took over, or perhaps earlier, when the caliphate was in control.
