If McCain was a Episcopal minister, or Guliani a priest then we certainly WOULD and SHOULD be discussing how their prior oaths might interfere with their elected office.
If they were ministers in the Church of IZOD, it would probably be of vital interest to Americans to find out exactly what in the heck IZOD beliefs entail. To do otherwise is a practice in absolute stupidity.....but then again why should we expect our fellow Americans not to act in a stupid and uninformed way, and vote a candidate because he has nice hair, a good smile, and tells you what you want to hear on any given subject (of course his opinion is subject to changed based upon new "revelation") SHEESH!
So are you indicating that you would support a Mormon candidate who hadn't held the position of Bishop or Stake President?
You mean like how Huckabee being an ordained Southern Baptist minister has been so thoroughly discussed here? Not.

You say that, but judging from my experience with Mormons, I tend to find that:
1) they tend to be friendlier than your average bear
2) they tend to be over-achievers. You look at enrollments in med school and law school, and Mormons basically kick the crap out of everyone but Jews. Only they don’t say “crap.”
3) they tend to have large families and be extremely family-oriented. Utah has the highest per capita under 25 population in the country.
4) When Mormons have a Temple marriage, divorce rates range between 6-13%, far below the national average.
5) Utah is perhaps the single most consistent Republican state in the nation. Wyoming is the only one giving it a run for its money.
I don’t get the disgust with Mormons at all. They tend to walk-the-walk far better than most.
My Mormon sister brought this up to me and says she is troubled by Romney's positions while running/ruling Massachusetts compared to the LDS Church's teachings. She would have no problem if Romney had stuck to Mormon doctrine in running for office but, apparently, he steered quite away from it which alarms her because she says nobody should reach the level of Stake president and not be solid in the church's positions.
While not a Mormon, I would feel better about Romney if he had been a strict Mormon than what he seems to be which is a political chameleon.
