And, if Giuliani should, by some twist of fate, win the presidency, it will mean the end of Reaganism. It will represent a turning point in the history of the Republican Party and our nation. It will mean the continued deaths of tens of millions unborn babies when we are closer than ever to defeating the abortion culture that Roe v. Wade initiated in 1973.
Should Giuliani succeed, it will represent the end of any hope for the Republican Party to serve as an alternative to the Democratic Party for millions of people like me and Dr. Dobson. That's bigger than two terms of Hillary Rodham Clinton. That's worse even than four or eight more years in the wilderness.
I actually believe it would be worse for America if Rudy Giuliani were elected president than Hillary Rodham Clinton.
If Hillary wins, the reaction to her predictable overreaching will be similar to what we experienced in 1994 a "Republican revolution."
If Rudy wins, millions will simply defect from the Republican Party. If you want to see the rise of a third party, just be sure to nominate Giuliani and elect him as president.
The long-term consequences of a Giuliani victory are far worse than the consequences of a Clinton victory.
So let's avoid that dire choice now. There's still time to avoid such an unpleasant scenario. Let's just nominate a Republican the Republican base can support.

if Rudy wins he will also be the default GOP nominee for the next election. After 8 years of rudy, that’s the end of the GOP as a pro-life party
The Author of this piece is Insane.
There is nothing more dangerous to the future and values of our country than a Hillary Presidency. She must be stopped.
I respect the views of all Freepers concerning who we each want to be our nominee. But, when the time comes, I pray we all are prepared to crawl over broken glass to stop Her, regardless of who the Republican nominee is.
However, where is the support for the Congressional elections coming up? Nothing. It’s all crickets.
No Rep. is making any news on Hannity, Rush or any talk radio show or media that is trying to win a seat in Congress.
It’s sad, but the GOP is putting all their hopes into the Presidential election instead of the long haul.
It will also give the dems huge boosts in both houses, as the big block of pro-lifers will stay home. Giving the dems great head-way in their agenda.
As much as I would like to agree with you and say we need to defeat hillary (at nearly all costs)...even chewing on Rudy glass.
I find it very hard to believe people will do that, and even myself. It’s just not a wise thing for him to be the nomination, and we all know that.
yes well that happened in 1992. Then the repubs got their act together in 94 and took back the congress for the first time in 40 years.
Republicans will have to learn the hard way they won’t win with Goldwater and Rudy. And the country will learn the hard way what happens if they elect democrats like hillary
Sorry, but that is stupidity at its most crass. I will risk uncertain Rudy appointments to the Supreme Court before I will surrender to certain Hillary appointments of three young liberals. THAT would mean the end of America as we know it.
Paint me a broken-glass Republican (and I say that being confident that Ron Paul will never get the nomination).
I will NOT take the chance of Hillary occupying the White House again. Long term political gain? Not as important as the ongoing mission of our troops, whom I know are not cheering for a Hillary presidency to get the Republican Party back on the right track.
I could go on, but it’s late and I need some sleep.
Fight the good fight as hard as you can for your nominee in the primaries. But come the general election? I will never EVER allow Mrs. Clinton to re-enter the White House, except by invitation of the President of the United States.
She does not have the qualities to lead. She is genuinely unlikable and paranoid and would polarize like Bill never could. You are correct!
I think Dobson is right but he is also creating a self-fulfilling prophecy for the GOP.
Rudy would be a very destructive nominee in many ways. Its basically telling 50M values voters (mostly religious people) that you are essentially the gays and blacks of the GOP (ie, we’ll call you when we need you but otherwise don’t hold your breathe since we have other priorities).
But for Dobson to basically rule out virtually every single candidate this early on just gives the media the spear they need to drive through our collective hearts.
The only real evangelical candidate up there is Huckabee. But seriously, what’s the chance of him winning when he wants a fence at the border about as much as Bush does. Hell, even McCain realizes he needs a fence now (if he isn’t lying again).
It is way, way too early to be making apocalyptic predictions. Dobson isn’t even waiting to see what the candidates are going to do to suck up to him and his listeners yet! Geez, talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
I’ve got the exact same concerns as most who look at the math on this and aren’t ideologically tied to any particular issue or candidate. We’ve got some serious ninjitsu to pull off in 2008. But we’re also going to get a minimum of 48-49% of the vote unless there is a wholesale defection of the evangelical community (worse than 2000, more like 1996 defection which went 40% for Clinton).
But we are playing on the exactly same field we played on and won the last two times despite enormous disadvantages and repeated predictions that the ‘models’ had us coming out on the bottom. Hillary still can’t compete in the South except possibly Florida and Charlie Christ might be our ace in the hole there despite him being far more ‘moderate’ than I’d like. And the rest of the states are mostly the same or slightly increased in population since the last time a Clinton was on the ballot.
She will have $2B in funds to bludgeon us but she will also be named Clinton - so $1B of that $$ will go to tricking the public into thinking her real name is Rodham.
Rudy has a record on judge appointments
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0207/2957.html
Yeah, I read that a while back. I took it with a grain of salt. It’s one thing to try to find decent judges in New York City and another to appoint judges to the SCOTUS. Not even the same planet.
the problem the way i see it is not that he is “pro-choice” but he is very pro-abortion -he would have us pay for abortion.
He’s not just for gun control but he supports suing gun manufacturers.
He not only supports gay rights but he marches with them. So this is very very radical and not just a moderate who wants to make nice with everyone to get elected.
If they do something stupid like that, then they will deserve the government they get. For a group that claims to be so Godly, they sure don't listen to what he says very well. They need to re-read a few bible stories. I don't see anywhere in the bible where it says we should just give up and turn everything over to Satan if the situation seems hopeless. In fact it says to make the best of the situation no matter how gloomy it is. Do the best we can with what we have and pray. Continue doing God's work with what you have. Imagine what the world would be like today if all the prophets and apostles simply gave up and said the heck with it all, and sat home.
Just remember the ABC’s. ANYBODY BUT CLINTON!!!!
barbra ann
Agreed. I assume Rudy’s appointments had to be approved by a legislative body. In NYC. LOL on getting a Conservative through.
I totally agree.
Some of that stuff was pure pragmatism on the part of a candidate for election and re-election as mayor of freaking New York City. Personally, I do not believe that Rudy has any core convictions at all, conservative, liberal, Martian, Wicchan, or otherwise. He’s strictly a political animal. His candidacy should be viewed in that light, rather than the way I see it viewed around here, which is a view based on the presumption that Rudy gives a rat’s behind about abortion, guns, gays whatever. He truly couldn’t care less about any of that stuff.
See, for Rudy it’s all about whatever it takes to get elected. Rudy HAS NO CORE CONVICTIONS. He did what he had to do to get elected mayor of NYC, and now he will do what he has to do to get the GOP nomination. So don’t despise Rudy because you think he’s a liberal - - he’s no more a liberal than he is a conservative or a moderate - - despise him because he is a complete phony.
Regards,
LH
