No, these people have jobs, are relatively well to do, and have personal discipline, unlike the animals involved in Katrina.

"No, these people have jobs, are relatively well to do, and have personal discipline, unlike the animals involved in Katrina."

Harsh, but close to point. They are mostly middle-class who have the witherall to actually buy home insurance. The lower-class of New Orleans either didn't have the resources or just figured Blanco and Nagin would take care of them.

And the bleeding-hearts wonder why so many don't want to return when they get Texas and other states' welfare. Another fine example of socialism. Other than the French Quarter and hotels on Canal Street, NO was a cesspool before Katrina hit.

As the commercial goes, "C'mon back, nawlins is rollin ya all". Bullshit.

Screw their architecture, their history, their food, their all so quaint neighborhoods. I've spent much time in the "Big Easy" and the service people are just down right lazy - that's why it was named so. Blame it on the humidity if you want - to me it's their I-don't-give-a-shit attitude.
Contrast NO's hospitality industry to say Hawai'i's...or even foreign owned islands in the carribean. New Orleans hospitality services suck to the inth degree.
