Chula Vista remains on alert after issuing an evacuation order for the Bella Lago community.
The city also has issued non-mandatory evacuation advisories for the Woods at EastLake, some areas of San Miguel Ranch and some areas of Rolling Hills Ranch.
About 150 evacuees are taking shelter at the Community Youth Center gymnasium on the Chula Vista High School campus, 465 L Street. Many people have been dropping off food, but there’s a continuing need for sleeping bags and mats.
The Sweetwater Union High School District will provide evacuees with breakfast Tuesday morning and the Chula Vista Elementary School District will provide lunch.
Chula Vista residents who want updates on the fire situation can call (619) 397-6399 to hear recorded messages.

Winds won’t change until Thursday
Posted @ 9:08 PM
Fire officials said at 8:30 p.m. that they don’t expect to see winds change direction until late afternoon Thursday.
The relentless winds which have fueled the fire and have hampered firefighters’ efforts have been blowing from east to west since Sunday.
The winds are forecast to reverse to a normal pattern moving from west to east. Firefighters are starting to plan for that change.
