I lived a lot in CA (seven different counties over the years, most of my business is still there) and have been in those hills and was actually out on the Bay for the big Oakland fire. Without favorable weather these fires cannot not be stopped. If a home owner takes precautions they can increase survival chances. But I agree with Rush today. These fires are a lot worse than hurricanes, of which I now have intimate knowledge. Still, tile roofs and cleared brush can yield a successful outcome in a marginal situation. But in a firestorm nature gets to call the shots.
