Thanks Phil. Nothing makes sense any more. It was good to re-read the Patton quotes, we could use him today. God rest his soul.

Thanks for the link to the Blog site also.

General Pace is the type of person President Bush fires.
While Chertoff still has his cushy Homeland Security job.

What a shame.

Maybe General Pace would someday consider Presidential politics? He’s already demonstrated more character than any other among DC.

Above site reports a visit by Pace to Farinaro’s high school, and cites the circumstances of his death and it’s impact on Pace. Very worth reading.

Dang.

Screen got really blurry for some reason...

I turned 60 the day after Gen Pace retired and left his stars at the Wall. In the weeks since then and my reading this post today, I have been remembering, as one often does after reaching a milestone.

I remember my buddies whose names are on the wall. I remember platoon commanders I had in 'Nam. As Gen. Pace said to the students at Chaminade High School, "I’m very calm about what comes next because of what I learned from Guido and Guido’s death, which is we don’t control when we’re going to die. We do control how we live,” he said. “In every disappointment there is a new door of opportunity. Every time in my adult life, when something happened that I wished had not happened, or I did not get what I thought I should get, in retrospect has turned out to be a blessing."

“I ask you to embrace the path that God lays out for you: do the very best you can on that path and take care of the people near you who look to you for leadership,” he said.

General Pace, thank you sir, for truly demomstrating the meaning of Semper Fi, Always Faithful!
