Customs officials have seized what they suspect is nearly 1 kg of uranium from a bus on the Jangipur-Barakar route.
The driver and conductor were detained.
The administration has sought help from scientists of Bhaba Atomic Research Centre to examine the contents of the bag with the word uranium embossed on it.
Investigations revealed it was smuggled from Bangladesh, said a customs official.
And I thought the Browns were desperate!
How did they catch on?
I wonder if they got suspicious when they read the label, “uranium.”
Sounds like a scam got busted up - just like when drug guys sell oregano in a bag labeled “pot”...
Yeah. You gotta wonder how Commissioner Goodell will be enforcing the Conduct Policy in this case.
I kilogram of anything labeled “uranium” that didn’t contaminate anything along the way or fry whomever handled it could not have been too serious of a threat to anything.
Move along folks...nothing to see here...
Uranium won’t “fry” anything, unless it is enriched and there is enough material. If it was common Uranium ore, then it is harmless unless one ingests it, at which point the higher danger is heavy metal poisoning, not internal contamination.
Bump, strange story, keep for future reference
How about a possible Dirty Bomb? Even a hint of radioactivity would send a population into panic.
That is true.
