Yes, its a beautiful day in the land Columbus discovered, I mean ruthlessly subjugated.
While in America only a handful of societys most marginal figures have decided to take up the call, in the yet to be renamed, South America, the campaign, known as Indigenous Resistance Day is gathering momentum.
The Guardian, the U.K.s most dedicated leftist newspaper cast the movement in these terms:
Now, however, a counter-attack is under way. After centuries as underdogs, indigenous people are rising up - peacefully - to seize political power and assert their heritage.
The so-called pink tide of leftwing governments has surged on the back of indigenous movements intent on dismantling the regions eurocentric legacy - starting with Columbus.
Across the Andes the explorer once feted as a hero by the Europeanised elite is having his story rewritten, his statue toppled and his name turned to mud. Leading the assault is Venezuelas president, Hugo Chavez.
They taught us to admire Christopher Columbus, he said during a recent televised address, his tone incredulous, while flicking through a 1970s school textbook. In Europe they still speak of the discovery of America and want us to celebrate the day.
Instead Mr Chavez has renamed October 12 indigenous resistance day and mounted a campaign against colonial residue.
Within the United States, the movement has gathered little popularity, but against the backdrop of an ever increasing tide of Mexican and Latin American immigration (both legal and illegal), there are those who are calling for a repudiation of all things European and a cultural fight which aims to divide white and non-white peoples.

How about “Oftentimes drunk, underachieving neolithic indian” Day?
These idiots are all over my campus — and, not surprisingly, they tend to be members of Mecha. Cant we just deport them already?
It’s a shame that Hugo can’t have this conversation with, say... Leif Eriksson. I’d pay good money to watch that (brief) meeting.
Resistance is futile.
H
Sorry, I was busy writing about 'shrooms... you rang?
And when does he discard all the European accoutrements that he uses to keep himself in power - automatic weapons, jet aircraft, mechanized equipment in general - and go back to spears and blow guns, the usual Amazon jungle weapons?
Waiting patiently for his Back-to-the-Jungle movement.
Crap like that worked real well for the Khmer Rouge in '75, should do wonders for his populace too.
Well, he WAS a slave-trader.
On the other hand EVERYBODY ELSE back then either was a slave-owner, a slave, or a slave-owner wannabe.
So what?
The indigenous peoples of England are not permitted to celebrate their heritage.
Why do they all want to lay claim to this land in the name of Mexico and the Aztecs?
There were plenty of other tribes in America and areas that were not settled by the Spanish.
They are self-loathing when they decry their own European origins.
“an ever increasing tide of Mexican and Latin American immigration (both legal and illegal), there are those who are calling for a repudiation of all things European and a cultural fight which aims to divide white and non-white peoples.”
So what’s new?
Oh, and since when are “Latins” and “Mexicans” indigenous? Lots of them are at best, mixed breeds.
I’d assume they’d be talking about Indians (very un-PC, I know), if there are any real 1s left down there.
Seeing that the Spanish were the ones responsible for most of the acts of cruelty, it’s interesting that none of the scorn is directed at them.
Um, well, present company excluded, of course.
They made us wear pants!
Huh?
But we've been told over and over they don't want to take over, compromise and undermine America...They just want a better life. Like all the immigrants before them...
There is no such animal as an “indiginous” person. Everybody supposedly is indiginous to Africa, which makes us Americans ALL African Americans. Although I am so white I’m almost transparent, I always choose African-American as my race on any government form.
No one knows for sure when the first people arrived in the Americas. No one knows who was first. (This goes for Australia and everywhere else too). It is thought that there were many waves of immigration in precolumbian times. The various peoples fought for land and wealth just like the Europeans. The existing precolumbian peoples just happened to be the kings-of-the-hill when Columbus arrived.
Whenever you are confronted with someone claiming to be an indiginous person, just say “prove it”! It’s much easier for me to prove that my ivory a$$ is African-American.
Translation: After centuries being shown the advantages of civilization, marxist worms have convinced the natives to confiscate the machinery of success and thereby return their countries to a pristeen state of barbarity, poverty, and dependence.
