SNIP
The onslaught began over the weekend, a week after 12-year-old Graeme Frost delivered the Democrats' weekly radio address with a plea to Bush to sign the bill. A contributor to the conservative Web site Free Republic noted Graeme's enrollment in the private Park School and the sale of a smaller rowhouse on the Frosts' block for $485,000 this year and questioned whether the family should be taking advantage of the state program.

The Frosts say the description of their family's circumstances now circulating is misleading. Halsey, they say, is a self-employed woodworker - he has no employees - while Bonnie works part time for a medical publishing firm. Together, they say, they earn between $45,000 and $50,000 a year.
That would make the Frosts eligible for Maryland's Children's Health Program, which is open to families that earn no more than 300 percent of the federal poverty level, or $82,830 a year for a family of six.
The Frosts declined to show The Sun their 2006 income tax returns...

Halsey Frost purchased the family home for $55,000 in 1990, according to city records, and refinanced in 2005, he says, to make improvements to accommodate the return of Graeme and Gemma from the hospital. The 1936 brick rowhouse, on a side street near Patterson Park, has an assessed value of $263,140.
Halsey Frost purchased a 1920 warehouse in East Baltimore for $160,000 in 1999, according to city records. It is assessed at $160,500. Frost says he is still paying off the mortgages on both properties.
The four Frost children depend on financial aid to attend private school, the Frosts say. In addition, they say, Gemma receives money from the city for special education made necessary by her injuries.

The more I read that the more it just burns my butt! We, the taxpayers, have a right to know the income of these people who are the poster darlings of the SCHIP program. We, the taxpayers, have a right to know who EXACTLY it is we are helping.
Is this information of their income publicly available from the SCHIP program? Because OUR money sure is publicly available to them, to which they had no qualms taking.
Here’s what I wrote the Sun in the comments for this article:
Mr Brown and the entire Baltimore Sun; do you know why you in the MSM have lost a ton of influence and this loss continues everyday? You are dishonest and ordinary Americans see that and discount what you say.
This article, “Frost family draws ire of conservatives” is a prime example. I’m a member of Free Republic, whose poster icwhatudo uncovered the information on the Frost family, which the Baltimore Sun neglected to report. Conservatives aren’t attacking the Frost family, they are attacking the media, the Baltimore Sun and the Democrat Party for abusing children to make further their political agenda. The Baltimore Sun has been simply a mouthpiece for Democrat Party propaganda and fails to report information that would affect people’s take on this story.
With today’s article, the Baltimore Sun props the Frosts up again as victims, then hides behind Mrs Frosts skirts to attack those mean, nasty conservatives. This is reporting? This is solid news judgment? No way, this is Democrat/Liberal/Socialist emotional exploitation in order to push Americans into supporting a vast increase in the size and scope of government, which the Baltimore Sun’s own sob story and exploitation of the Frost family does NOT justify.
So, with Free Republic and other conservative outlets doing the reporting that the American media and the Baltimore Sun refuse to do, what does the Sun do? Attack the messenger, hide behind its Poster Family of victims and continue the smear.
Drip, drip, drip, the remaining credibility of the Sun as a news source is dribbling away. I just wonder why the stockholders put up with the destruction of their stock value. And no one, but Liberal/Socialist kool-aid drinkers believe the Sun anymore, otherwise American citizens wouldn’t have looked into the unreported aspects of this story. No one is surprised to find the Sun hiding the facts.
But wait! That's the Democrat voter base you're talkin' about....it's the "Entitlements Crowd", and "take from you for the common good" means....
The Frosts say the description of their family's circumstances now circulating is misleading. Halsey, they say, is a self-employed woodworker - he has no employees
irregardless; the woman did say "we are not provided health insurance at work" to make it look like they were down trodden or something...
another question- do these people have access to public school??? because- unless it is a special needs child why is ANYONE receiving financial aid to send there children to private school???? I thought the rats were against school vouchers??? Is this any different????
or someone who makes $150K and reports $35K....
I saw the article. I love how they had Mrs. Frost sit there in bare feet with a trailer-trash hairdo and the whole shebang to trump up the “po’ family” look.
One idiot at Redstate posts that and of course the Sun, in it’s infinite liberal wisdom, assumes all conservatives feel the same way.
Eight years ago, and the value has only gone up $500? Well. Frost certainly deserves to have the taxpayer foot the bill for his kids' insurance.
Here's my strategy for insurance: make lousy real estate investments and then blame the President for my situation. Get sympathy with Democrat party consultants and deliver a radio address bemoaning my plight in life.
"out of line and ignorant"
You should make darned sure that you do not use made up words like "irregardless" The words are "regardless" or "irrespective." There is no word "irregardless." It makes you seem ignorant.
They probably write off everything from toilet paper to lawn furniture, and probably really make a good bit more.
That’s probably why they didn’t show the Sun their tax returns.
As a fairly new resident of the Baltimore area, I second that the area isn’t great. It does have potential, but I wouldn’t live there currently.
That's what I do, legally, with my Sub-S Corp.
p.s. I wonder what she paid for those awesome tattoos on her feet.
Very true. The $50k is Adjusted Gross Income, after all that would have come out. The only expense they have that’s probably not a “business” expense is the mortgage on the home itself, and that might not even be.
Since I didn't have the dubious pleasure of inseminating Mrs Frost, why should I have to pay for her spawn?
An article posted on here previously said they were in an SUV.
Although it’s not in this story, I seem to remember another story saying the vehicle went sideways into a tree. If that’s right, a seatbelt does not stop your head from slamming into the side window. When I was a reporter I went to just such an accident. The driver was wearing her belt, but her head hit the driver’s side window, killing her.
They’d somehow have to have the house as part of the corporation. I’m not sure how they’d do that.
They could, however, claim a large portion of the house as home office and work space....possibly deducting their amount right off the top since it might be a business and not an itemized deduction.
Actually no.
There was a thread yesterday (one of many) where the Frost's admitted that the Grandparents 'helped' them financially (that was in the article or through a link).
In any case, as we all know that 'financial help' is taxable income, i.e.: "Gift". So I wonder if the Frost's included that in their meager $45K tax return as required by law. I'll say no on that.
The MSM trying to protect thier own incompetence.
AMATURES did the job of CNN, NBC, and FNC.
AMATURES asked the questions CNN, NBC and FNC REFUSED to ask.
Yes, I too think the grandparents are paying the tuition, HOWEVER anything that the Frost;s say is suspect to me....it appears they are Tax Evaders.
