Frost Family Draws Ire of Conservatives ( MSM Fights Back! Free Republic mentioned)
The Baltimore Sun ^ | Wednesday, October 10, 2007 | Matthew Hay Brown

SNIP

The onslaught began over the weekend, a week after 12-year-old Graeme Frost delivered the Democrats' weekly radio address with a plea to Bush to sign the bill. A contributor to the conservative Web site Free Republic noted Graeme's enrollment in the private Park School and the sale of a smaller rowhouse on the Frosts' block for $485,000 this year and questioned whether the family should be taking advantage of the state program.

SNIP

The Frosts say the description of their family's circumstances now circulating is misleading. Halsey, they say, is a self-employed woodworker - he has no employees - while Bonnie works part time for a medical publishing firm. Together, they say, they earn between $45,000 and $50,000 a year.

That would make the Frosts eligible for Maryland's Children's Health Program, which is open to families that earn no more than 300 percent of the federal poverty level, or $82,830 a year for a family of six.

The Frosts declined to show The Sun their 2006 income tax returns...

SNIP

Halsey Frost purchased the family home for $55,000 in 1990, according to city records, and refinanced in 2005, he says, to make improvements to accommodate the return of Graeme and Gemma from the hospital. The 1936 brick rowhouse, on a side street near Patterson Park, has an assessed value of $263,140.

Halsey Frost purchased a 1920 warehouse in East Baltimore for $160,000 in 1999, according to city records. It is assessed at $160,500. Frost says he is still paying off the mortgages on both properties.

The four Frost children depend on financial aid to attend private school, the Frosts say. In addition, they say, Gemma receives money from the city for special education made necessary by her injuries.

They were injured in an SUV, not an ordinary car. Also, see post 169; it looks like they were thrown from the vehicle, meaning their parents probably didn’t take care to make sure they were restrained.

Insurance companies do not have to provide medical insurance. My niece has diabetes, and the only place she can get medical insurance is through the state.

If she is an adult, tell her to get a job, otherwise tell her parents to get a job, and then she will be fine.

I personally know of at least a dozen employed diabetics who got health insurance with the preexisting condition.

Diabetes is even covered by the Pet health insurance offered by my Veterinarian. I choose not to purchase that policy.

I haven't seen any articles describing the accident as was posted in #169. Doesn't mean that post is wrong, but the most I could find online was this:

"I was driving and my car hit black ice and I lost control of it and I slammed into a tree. Gemma hit the tree and Graeme hit a window," Bonnie said.

Thank God she will be able to get govt insurance after she rolls off of her parents. Will she have to pay anything for it?

Great post; thanks; great thread. BTTT!

I heartily second your observation!

Get out the annointing oil! These trustafarian hippies have made themselves the new Democratic Poster Family. Her Heinous, Madame Cuckold in Chief, must be shrieking for the head of whoever came up with this latest bright idea.

The little foot and boobie tattoos, they're so cute! The libs' worst enemies couldn't have designed a better Welfare Mom. Next thing we'll find out is that they drive an Eldo'.

There are plenty of full time programming jobs that provide full medical benefits. I know of multiple programmers who have pre-existing conditions and yet they have been able to get employment with benefits.

Here is the record of the extensive remodeling that they did. Looks like they have a Carriage house in addition to the main structure.

Oops it won’t retain a prior search. Hit the above link and plug in the address (104 collington) for info on the building permits.

Race car injury that inspired the Hans device, and contributed to or caused the death of Dale Earnhardt. I’m late to this thread so someone down the line has probably already replied in this vain.

Carriage house. Hmmm.

Very interesting -- I had no idea you could look up construction permits online ! (Knew you could looking up tax records, deeds etc, which I've done while researching a possibie challenge to my property taxes).

To be fair to Mr. Frost, if he used his own home equity to make those "home improvements" because he had to make changes to accommodate the recovering children (like widening doorways to accommodate a wheelchair; or installing a handicapped accessible bathroom), nobody would have a problem with that.

And Frost does claim he did a re-fi with some cash out on that 104 S Collington property in 2005, for that purpose.

But some of that work on the permit list you pulled doesn't look like handicapped accessible stuff. Like, "5 new fixtures," including that fancy new gas range (visible in the published kitchen photo)? And cabinetry?

Also, given the Frost's apparent alacrity to accept public money, I wonder if they might have got "government grants" to put in handicapped-accessible improvements ... while spending their own home equity money on the trendy new kitchen, new windows, and other stuff that spiffed up the place.

One other thing: Why is the 104 Collington house listed as NOT their "principal residence" in the tax records? Do they own another residence?

Why am I not surprised to see the fingerprints of esteemed (by the Maryland 'Rat machine) Marylander, Vinnie DeMarco, on this latest fraud.

Back during the 'Rat antigun heyday, Vinnie DeMarco (Handgun Control, Inc. and Marylanders Against Handgun Abuse - MAHA) led the charge for the party of corruption.

When that horse stopped winning, he then moved into the socialized medicine lobbying business.

Apparently DeMarco is good buddies with the D'Alesandro (Pelosi) Baltimore crime family.

That was my question earlier in the thread. I can't see the Frosts passing up the tax benefits of the principal residence designation.

Bonnie Frost was driving children Zeke, Graeme and Gemma in Baltimore County in December 2004 when the family SUV hit a patch of black ice and slammed into a tree.

Was "the family SUV" titled to the parents or was it titled to one of their businesses?

Lots of ways for people to get hidden benefits from owning a small business and still show a small personal income. One way is for "the business" to buy the vehicle for the family's use. Not kosher, but common.

Why weren’t those kids in child seats? Under nanny state rules shouldn’t the kids be removed from the home and their welfare be revoked?
