...she asked that her name not be mentioned when the accusations were presented to Judge Thomas...

Think about it: The accusations referred to things that were supposed to have happened when only two people were present.

If the accusations were true, Clarence Thomas would automatically know who originated them. Anita Hill's request for anonymity made sense only if the charges were false.

Absolutely wonderful column. Thanks for posting it.

I confess that I didn't remember that particular piece of logic, but I think I was aware of it at the time - possibly because Sowell pointed it out, or otherwise. 'Course back then, we didn't have Sowell columns on the Internet; we didn't even have the Internet!

To be subjected to the Anita Hill hoax must have been most excruciating - no less so than the Twana Brawley hoax or the Crystal Magnum/Mike Nifong hoax. And like Anita Hill, Al Sharpton came to prominence promoting a hoax (Brawley, in his case) and is still an eminence in the Democratic Party. How long 'til we hear that Nifong is prospering as a Democrat opposition researcher or something? He sounds like (shudder) just Hillary's kind of person.
