Yes, but that chart leaves off the upward spiral that began back in ‘04 and has tripled the price of crude since.
Interesting to see the price of pre-1973 oil.

So your chart does show just how much inflation has been introduced into our economy, your spike claims that prices were higher in the mid 80’s when oil was $45 or so a barrel.
Today they are at over 70 and somehow this is cheaper?
Inflation eats value like baking soda reacts to vinegar.
