It’s a shame they didn’t give this award to researchers of ADULT stem cells that already have proven therapies helping people NOW!!

There is no sector of science that can not be politicized, unfortunately.

I agree with you and I think the Nobel committee - or whatever it’s called- operates like The Academy Awards.
They are liberally inclined and like to stick their finger in our eye on purpose.

I knew that the moment they awarded Jimmy Carter with the Peace Prize to spite George W. Bush! Feh on them. These awards are worthless, just like the Oscars.

Go back a few years before that to 1994 when they gave it to Bildo Klintoon’s favorite terrorist, Yasser Arafat.

They gave him a Nobel Prize in Medicine? Or perhaps you are confusing this prize with another.

Its a shame they didnt give this award to researchers of ADULT stem cells that already have proven therapies helping people NOW!! Don't be silly. Inventing a new field is much more significant than making therapeutic advances later on in that field.

No, you’re confusing my response. I’m commenting on Pillut48 saying the signal that the Nobels are politicized was when Jimmah got his Peace Prize.

The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded by a committee of the Norwegian Parliament. That makes its awarding inherently political.
The prize in Physiology or Medicine is awarded by the Nobel Assembly, which is a committee composed of scientists.
You can't conflate two different awards given by two entirely different bodies. The Peace Prize is extremely political; the science prizes usually aren't. The Prize in Economics (awarded by Sweden's Central Bank) is simply incoherent.

The Science prizes are’nt given by the same people as the Peace Prize. And as for the AAs most Best Picture winners tend toward the Conservative side.

Remember "Brokeback Mountain"? We were all in an uproar about the content of it and I believe there were other good contenders.

ROTFLMAO You're kidding, right?Well, to some extent all of academia is political, but the science prizes are awarded by scientists, not by professional politicians the way the Peace Prize is.
