Cynthia McKinney to announce bid next week for the White House: Green Party
Fogcityjournal ^ | October 5, 2007 | Luke Thomas

According to a reliable source, former U.S. Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney (D-Ga) will officially announce her candidacy for U.S. president as early as next week. According to the source, the Green Party has been actively courting McKinney to switch party affiliation and run as a Green. (*)

McKinney has been outspoken about the Iraq war, AIPAC's lobbying influence over U.S. foreign policy, the 9/11 Commission Report, and the partisan decision by a partial body of the Supreme Court to elect George W. Bush to the presidency in 2000.

She is also trumpeting the call of millions of Americans calling for the impeachment of Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for perpetrating war crimes against humanity.

McKinney is in San Francisco this weekend. Her schedule includes an appearance at a CodePink party tonight at El Rio, and an appearance tomorrow at a campaign rally to elect mayoral candidate Ahimsa Sumchai.

(*) Update 3:10 p.m: According to a source, McKinney officially registered as a member of the Green Party yesterday.

This is great news!

She’ll take about 10 million radical voters from the beast!

I never thought I’d say this - but here’s to Cynthia running a powerful campaign and getting her fair share of the votes. :)

I predict the same excitement and buzz at the first press conference as was shown with Carol Moseley Brown in the 2004 election.

ROTFLMAO!!!! She is NUTS! But think about it - the funniest thing about this is the fact that there are people out there who will vote for her...and those people who would actually vote for her would be taking votes away from Hillary (or whomever the Dem candidate is!) Run Cynthia Run!! LOL!!! :D

I’m disappointed, I was hoping that Nader would be the Green candidate so as to do some real damage to the D-Rats.

I’m still hoping Gore jumps in. That would make a fine mess for the democrats at this point in the game.

Yeah, Ron Paul seems more sane than anyone in the Green Party, for that matter.

I hope my post here will not be misunderstood, but this just reiterates for me the question of why almost all Black politicians in America are not merely liberals in the traditional sense and on the traditional issues (race, poverty, welfare, affirmative action) but across the board radicals on every social and moral position out there. Is this the only kind of politician the Black church, which on teh surface seems akin to snake-handling West Virginia hillbillies, can produce? I don't get it.

Then consider that McKinney is from Georgia and is Roman Catholic.

What is the deal here? Is it actually possible that the Black church, despite its Fundamentalist form, is actually a church of leftwing intellectuality? And if so, on what grounds can they denounce "European/Western" civilization when their philosophy comes from Voltaire and the French Revolution?
