I remember years ago, the first time a doctor asked me if I was being physically abused by my husband. I laughed, but I was shocked, because it appeared to be a standard question asked during a routine visit.

A year or so later, I took my husband to the emergency room for an asthma attack, and the doctor asked him, while I was there, if I was physically abusing him. It's bizarre.
