Fred Thompson on Harry Reids attacks on Rush Limbaugh
Congressional Democrats are trying to divert attention from insulting our military leader in Iraq and pandering to the loony left by attacking Rush Limbaugh. He is one of the strongest supporters of our troops, yet Democrats claim he is not being strong enough. I wonder who General Petraeus and his troops think is most supportive?

" As wonderful as that would be, I think it'll probably take a little more than that to get Rush's support. "
Ok, let me put it in a different light.... realistically ? we only have the top 3 Fred, Rudy, and Rommney ( McCain is basically out of it ) ..... and I know Rush can see the GOP political landscape, who do you think Rush will support at this point ? ( and it doesn't hurt that Fred came to Rush's defense either ) ?
To: Pistolshot
As long as this story stays in the forefront, Rush's ratings and listener-ship goes up, Reid and his cronies lose more credibility, and the Dim candidates are caught between supporting Dingy or Rush.
Gotta love it.
You left out the truth, but hey, so do the dhimmicrats (No comparison to you, but that thinking is so prevalent, people get use to the truth not being an issue).
That's my Guy! Fred Thompson, what a guy, what a candidate, what a president (future tense).
We do indeed love it.

Romney is a dead man walking, at this point.
Anyone who does not know Rush Limbaugh after his 19 years on the air is not someone conservatives want in office. The fact that he actually bought that Rush maligned the troops shows him to be hopelessly out of touch with one of the country's greatest conservatives.

All I got to say is that his " True Colors are showing now ".
Nothing better than a situation like this to see what men are made of.
Now we are seeing Rommeny's true colors and Fred's character.
Come on MittBots we want to hear from you.... you can twist and spin this anyway you want, but, it is plain as day what Mitt's true colors are now.

What ‘truth’ did I leave out? I know what Rush said, I know what the Dims think about it by the smear. What’d I miss? Freds remarks? They were right on, why argue that?

Dont worry, Im sure hell change his tune very soon. Exactly. Here's how it will play out:
- Romney eventually realizes that his statement is hurting him
- Romney issues new statement in support of Limbaugh (but decidedly lacking in condemnation for Reid, et. al.)
- The Mittwits declare the Romney statement a testament to solid conservatism, even Reaganesque in its presentation.
- The Mittwits are shown Romney's previous comments.
- Everyone laughs at the Mittwits.
- The Mittwits temporize that Romney's original statement said nothing about Limbaugh and was simply a statement in support of the troop.
- Everyone laughs at the Mittwits again.

Pres Bush might have taken 2 weeks to refer to it, but he’d still avoid going on the offensive. IRONIC that our President that is taking the offensive on the ‘War on Terror’, but gives the left a pass every time they attack the GOP. Hell, has Bush ever even addressed the Petrayeus/Betray us moveon.org crap???? :crickets:

You’re leaving with no points, but we do have these lovely parting gifts for you . . . .

Nonsense. Fred gave Rush yesterday to put the entire story before a HUGE radio audience. Today, he put out the statement in time for a big kudos-mention from Rush on the show.
SCORE!!

That entire post is a keeper.
Just yesterday I was marveling at how the “New Romney” was replacing the true Romney, with everyone starting to just accept his current election “Reagan Reborn” brand new positions on every thing, backed up by new position papers, a new set of experts, etc.
This simple event jerks the curtain down and reveals that his attempts at being a conservative are even shallower and more brittle than we thought.
If he can’t fake his way through this little news blip involving Rush Limbaugh, then I really don’t want him to ever be representing fundamental conservatism against the pressures of the Presidency.

You just don’t understand. As a successful business man and a competent executive office holder, Mitt is highly trained at responding to political situations with multiple responses and positions to cover the current interest of his constituents.
Expect another replay, maybe more in the next few days....

The guy who speaks up and tells the truth in a tough, straightforward way is they guy who's going to get my vote this time. I'm through with "sweetness and light" candidates. Thompson is not only right, he's smart. It's because Fred comes from what is called the "Jacksonian Tradition". Straight talk and honesty is the cornerstone of this tradition.
