Fred Thompson on Harry Reids attacks on Rush Limbaugh
Congressional Democrats are trying to divert attention from insulting our military leader in Iraq and pandering to the loony left by attacking Rush Limbaugh. He is one of the strongest supporters of our troops, yet Democrats claim he is not being strong enough. I wonder who General Petraeus and his troops think is most supportive?

That Democrats repeat the lie, and the MSM accepts the lie, is all you need to know. With respect, I feel I should amplify that statement, like so:
That Democrats repeat the lie, the MSM accepts the lie, and Willard's first instinct is to jump on the dogpile, is all you need to know.

Since the Left can't win the debate, it has to shut down the debate. They can only win by deceit, demagoguery, conspiratorial MSM, vote fraud, and now direct attack by the government against Conservative speech over the airwaves.
Their own effort at talk radio failed miserably, and they were not able to reconstitute the "fairness doctrine" in time for the 2008 election cycle, so their new plan is to gin up controversies as they have with Rush, raise a fuss, rake in contributions from their Borg base, and then "bank" the issue fore future use. By this last point, I mean that they will assemble a "body of evidence" with which to intimidate advertisers, cajole owners., and finally, justify reinstatement of the "fairness doctrine".
These Democrats are closer to being Stalinist than representatives. If they win more power in 2008, they'll be coming after conservative talk radio and Internet with a vengeance. These people are psychotic, IMHO, and I fear there may come a time when they will simply refuse to give up their power. You said tyranny, and that's the right term to describe them.
I just sent Fred $50 and now I'm sending FRee Republic $50. Thanks for all you do, Jim.

“If Rush comes out and supports someone in the primaries...I guarantee you it will be Fred.”
He will not actively support anyone in the primaries based on what he has said. Sounds like he does lean towards Fred though. No matter what Republican wins the primaries you can bet the house he will give them his full support in order to beat Hillary.

If I knew how to quickly get to my first post on FR I would do it, because it was a criticism of Hugh Hewitt and him going Pollyannish during elections and just pushing his candidates with endless positive spin, regardless of facts. (If I remember correctly). You remember correctly and it was unbelievable hard for me to listen to. Anyway I don't listen to him anymore and what have that problem in the future [grin]...

I wonder if Romney or his spokesperson even listened to what Rush said. How could they not know that Rush’s remarks were taken out of context by Media Matters, Harry Reid and the rest? Call me naive, but that’s surprising, IMO. I would expect better, even from Romney.

“As a regular Rush listener, I agree with you totally. I’m proud of Fred Thompson for standing up so decisively, and I agree with Rush that it’s an act of courage to do so. I haven’t thought too highly of Thompson to this point, but his actions on behalf of a tremendous patriot (Limbaugh) have added tremendously to his credibility as far as I’m concerned.”
Ditto, word-for-word. :-).
