INDIANAPOLIS -- U.S. Rep. Julia Carson has been granted an extension of her leave of absence from Congress until Oct. 15 as she recuperates from a leg infection.
The 69-year-old Democrat from Indianapolis was admitted Sept. 21 to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after complaining of leg pain and fatigue.
Carson's office said last week she was being treated for a deep infection in her leg near the area where a vein was removed in January 1997 when she underwent double heart bypass surgery.
Carson, who was elected to her first term in November 1996, has been plagued by health problems during her years in Congress. Days before she was to take the oath of office in January 1997, she underwent double heart bypass and was sworn in while hospitalized.
Carson suffers from high blood pressure, asthma and diabetes. She took a one-week leave of absence from her congressional duties in 2003 for what she called routine medical appointments.
She missed dozens of votes in 2004, saying she felt bad and had no energy.
The embarrassment of all clear thinking Hoosiers right there. I still can't figure out why they keep putting that dumb woman in office. Every time she opens her mouth it just reinforces the fact of how ignorant she is.
What an embarrassment.
It’s a gerrymandered rodent district, for starters. Still, I wish her well for her health.
Maybe its time she worried more about her health and let someone else step in for her.
I am serious when I say you could probably throw a rock in her district and hit someone who would do at least as well a job in office as she has 9 out of 10 times.
1. Gerrymandered 7th district
2. The Ghetto Mafia
3. Dead and homeless voters (until voter ID came along)
4. (personal opinion) proceeds from illegal gambling funneled into her campaign committee. How else do the “unemployed” contribute the limit to her campaign?
Eric Dickerson took 48% in a “blue” year in 2006 without any local GOP party support. We’re hoping he’ll do it again and screw the local party people. Eric had national support once he was in striking distance.
Comparing Lugar to her is like a dragster to a Yugo in mental terms.
I dunno bout that. Lugar has gone totally RINO in recent years. Yeah, he's still much better than Carson but it's more like a Studebaker compared to a Yugo.
Is there any evidence that she’s actually alive?
I mean, judging by that picture, you could probably get a death certificate in three out of four jurisdications. I realize that the Democratic Party strongly supports the civil rights of Necro-Americans, but can’t they at least find a fresh one?
Look to see a big push next primary to get him out.
I live in Indianapolis, her district and we’re stuck with Dems. Word is Carson is setting this up for her grandson to take over the district. He was just appointed to replace a Dem on the city-county council and everyone is expecting that she will resign/retire and her grandson will be appointed to finish her term and then be set to take over. Not sure if true, but that’s the rumor mill.
Better to have her in the office rather than one of similar views who would show up and vote. Here’s hoping for for a recovery from her current medical issue and an easy re-election.
Nothing we can do. I heard a rumor the last guy who sat next to her complained about the smell and and flies and was sued for racist slander, about $10 million I think...
I think she looks like she is related to Diane Watson who keeps getting elected over and over again in So Calif.
Sorry.
1. Andre Carson has no experience. He has a make-work do nothing job at a Democrat contributor’s office.
2. Her stock is falling rapidly. The mayor is getting pounded out in the public and the media has to work to keep him looking nice.
If Congress’ approval doesn’t get any better people are clamoring for change.
She’s black, a democrat and runs in an urban district full of poor blacks and “I’m ashamed to be white” liberals. They could run a turnip in that district and win if it had a (D) behind the name.
