Here’s what I’m thinking after reading the links, and tell me if I’m wrong. I’m not immune to new knowledge.

EMP damage beyond 100 miles would be primarily limited to systems that have substantial exposure and are operating at the time, e.g. power grids, television stations.

Would you say that an EMP beyond 100 miles would be likely to damage a deinergized circuit board, say in a parked car?

I know only what I have read.

I’ve thought of building a Faraday cage to house a transistor radio, etc. just in case.

One thing along these lines.

Ham radio operators have had trouble with the electronics in their cars when they install their radios in certain brands.
The RF interferes with the ignition systems IIRC.
IIRC Buick and possibly other GM cars were susceptible.

And this is only about 60 watts or so.
