I was thinking that no one had to be unhappy if a little common sense were employed. Do everthing humanly possible to minimize exposure to the allergen and educating people, while neither banning the allergen (which can’t be done anyway) OR the boy (which IS truly absurd).

If you ban the boy it sets a precedence on airlines...after all they serve nuts on planes...

the malls...yup nuts in there too...

grocery stores...ditto...

in fact, he could NEVER come to my state (Georgia) let alone meet and shake Jimmy Carter’s hand...

Conversely, if you ban nuts from schools...that long list above would work in reverse until peanuts are eventually eliminated from existence...

along with wasps/bees...

milk...

shellfish...

well you get the picture.

If ANYTHING should be banned, it should be kneejerk reactions that lead to... *****BANNING*******!!!!!

Sadly I don’t see that conclusion being reached anytime soon though. :(

The concept of fairness is intriguing. Nowhere does it exist in nature. Not in any form, in any way, including the physiological ailments that plague individuals and for which they must adjust their lifestyles. One kids wakes up at age 11 to discover that he has Type I diabetes and for the rest of his life, will have to inject insulin or die. Another wakes up at age 11 healthy and fit and in a good, loving family; another wakes up in the home of a single mom who thinks carbonated sodas (diet or not) are the primary souce of hydration for the body and that breakfast isn't important, so the kid is fat, weak, and slow in the brain. That's life. It's not fair, but it's life.

Justice is an attempt to address wrongs and uphold rights. Fairness is an illusion in our worldly life; it exists somewhere else.
