I’m convinced the reason the left is in such a froth about Iraq is that they instinctively understand that it is one of the key strategic battles for the economic and political survival of the West. The deep motives of the neo-isolationist right are more complicated, but, as you indicate they all require the ability to deny reality and misunderstand the global strategic situation.
