Just another bump for publicity.
And I don’t know if all PBS outlets are doing this...but our station in
central Missouri follows up the first airing (starting at 7PM Central) with
a fairly immdiates re-run at 9PM.

I've often wondered about that type of statement because what can
be more complex and confusing than a world war?
Of course, that makes sense.
But for every "seasoned citizen", trying to absorb all the "new stuff"
that hits us each year in a country like the USA...
I'm sure the RECOLLECTION is that it was a simpler time!

My uncle who rarely stays up past 8 oclock now (he is 86) stayed up and watched the whole show last night. I kept dozing off during the first part of the show, he told me he was wide awake.

Very true. It would be interesting to know if WWII combat vets feel the same way.

“I wonder if they are going to mention Lil Marline.”
IIRC, my brother said there was (probably 20 years ago) some film
about the movie highlighting the ironies behind it...the popularity
with both Axis and Allied troops, and that either the author of the lyrics
(or the manager of the prominent singer of the song) was a Jew in
the Third Reich (and untouched by the Nazis, IIRC)

“Interesting they discussed how all Americans were behind their president during WW2”
Apparently so. At least my parents and their families were supportive - and involved. However, I have heard accounts of a handful of people that didn’t want to get involved in “Europe’s War”, but then of
course Hitler ruined their plans when he declared war on us.

After seeing the Left going all swishy and anti-war against Chicoms, VC, NVA, and even Islamofascists, I'm convinced that the only reason the Left and Liberal Democrats supported World War II was because that doofus Hitler was stupid enough to attack the Soviet Union, their favorite country.

I just logged on, saw this, and flipped to our PBS....barf!
It's an interview with that famous intellectual -- Sean Pukeface Penn!

Here’s a profile on writer Dalton Trumbo.
As part of his Communist work during WWII...he’d “Name names” to
the FBI.
Of the people that asked for copies of his book “Johnny Got His Gun”.
Because Trumbo assumed that after Hitler finked on the non-aggresson
pact...any American pacifist must be a threat to continued aid to
the USSR by the USA.

Sorry, if that was part of the Burns film, I missed it.
Maybe the airing time varies for some of the indivudual PBS outlets.
If Penn was on the air...right now it can only be for leftist fruitiness
on PBS...
or to pimp his recent film release.

I started watching yesterday...but I may be too type “A” for this program...I found the pace a little too slow, and the voice over a little too flat...so I was flipping to other channels. Tonight I watch Heros.
