I have a friend (the one I stayed with in Utah) who is WAY lucky! She belongs to a sweepstakes club, and enters contests like they were going out of style. She’s probably won $80,000 +/- in the last four years, in cash and prizes.

The Sisters of Mercy hereabouts raffle a car each year to raise money for their home for unwed mothers. One of our parishioners won the car this year, and they also won (I think) the $500 drawing at our festival.
I had given all the raffle tickets we bought to the children. If they’d won $1,000 or $500, they’d have had to put most of it in the bank, but the $100 will just be handed over. We should get a check from the parish next week.
