To: Alas Babylon!

Well, Hillary made the rounds today to almost uniform applause. She acts, looks and is treated like the next POTUS.

It is difficult to tell whether the powers that be really want her or whether they are just fearful of crossing her because she will have power and is noted for getting even.

This is the week that was. While we censure, debate and impugn the character of our candidates, the RATS are almost all unified and desirous of victory at any price. It’s Hillary all the way, every day come what may.

Interesting column a while ago by William Rusher, National Review emiritus, who said that the entire Dem strategy is to retake the White House. Since retaking both houses of Congress last November, their real objective is not to get anything substantive through but to pile on making Bush look bad.

They will do this by passing bills that sound attractive to the average American, but which Bush will veto; and by using their sup-poena power to call people from the Administration before them. There are limits to what Congress can compel officials of the Admin to testify about, but “there are no limits on what an imaginative senator or congressman can at least demand.”

This attack strategy worked well for the 2006 election - defining Republicans as the party of corruption. This strategy is only going to intensify for the next 11 months. Republicans need to go on offense and stay there.
