AJ, I agree with you. When I went through basic electronics in the service, the first device we all made was a "pinger detector", 2 LED's with a timing circuit that made the LED's blink.....the entire flight marched back to the barracks proudly displaying our "pinger detectors....hehehehe.
The entire flight of airmen could (and apparently should, according to many on this thread) be shot for having a blinky light pinned to our uniforms. What we have here is a 19 year old kid that made a blinking LED star (as in her name.....Star) and went to the airport to pickup her boyfriend....BFD!
It's apparent this country has already given up it's freedom for a little security.....and we all know what Ben Franklin thought about that.....
The only problem is that we don't get any security out of this.
I suppose there is an alternative, which is that these security folks are really really really smart and they are just acting dumb to lull the terrorists into complacency. Ockham's razor would eliminate this explanation, but I cannot refute it out of hand.
