Rudy Giuliani gets the 2nd Amendment completely wrong in NRA speech [saved by a phone call]

Right before Giuliani took his "impromptu" call during the NRA speech, he was discussing the second amendment. However, when discussing the second amendment's language, he mistakenly began to paraphrase the fourth amendment instead! Then he answered the phone and changed the subject. Here's the transcript, followed by the video:
"After all the second amendment is a freedom every bit as important as the other freedoms in the first ten amendments. Just think of the language of it -- 'the people shall be secure' --let's see, this is my wife calling..."
(talks to and about his wife)
(then he resumes with a subject change) "...but the parking decision offers an excellent example..."

Giuliani forgetting the second amendment in his big NRA speech is a giant SNAFU. In the media attention over the call itself, let's see if this part of the story gets any mention.

Ping — I thought this part of the story was worth calling out...if you think it’s better discussed on your existing thread, please let me know and I’ll ask the admin mod to delete this one ASAP.

I haven’t seen the video. Is it possible that the “call” was a head’s up from a staffer that he had just “stepped in it”?

Perhaps he was invoking an emanation from a penumbra of a shadow. This after the Clinton camp declared Rudy's personal life "fair game."
I still see an older, bald version of John Kerry, both in speech and appearance.

He’s got to be some kind of whipped to take a cellphone call from his wife in the middle of a speech while he’s running for POTUS.

And bare-headed ones as well. See my post about Giuliani as an aged John Kerry.

You got that right. He’s been getting it wrong since day one.
“Rudy was so blatantly anti-constitutional regarding the 2nd Amendment, in 2000 he sued 26 gun manufactures to essentially put them out of business, saying that manufacturers overproduced guns, way beyond what is necessary for hunting and law enforcement.”
No thanks

Whipped by whom? His campaign strategist or his wife?

He also pulled the same phone call from his wife stunt in June in front of people gathered for a rally.

Because he's such a family-oriented guy, you know. No need to delve into past marital relations. Show's over, nothing to see here!
Are all presidential candidates this arrogant and condescending?

Repeat from other thread:
So he confused the language and was going to go quote the 4th Amendment until an AIDE called him--not his wife! BOTH SIDES OF THE ACTUAL PHONE CALL:
RUDY: Hello dear...
AIDE: You flippin' IDIOT! You just said the people shall be secure... That's the 4th Amendment! They want to hear about GUNS! Remember? The SECOND Amendment.
RUDY: I'm talking to the members of the NRA right now.
AIDE: Yeah... the wife thing--Good cover. Now, you need to pick the conversation back up and put it on topic. Cut to the part about the Parker Decision.
RUDY: Would you like to say hello? (He laughs, apparently at something she says.) I love you and I'll give you a call as soon as I'm finished, OK?
AIDE: You don't remember the Parker decision? Damn it! Start on Page 3. Just read the speech and quit ad libbing this thing! You are screwing up, big time!
RUDY: OK, have a safe trip, bye-bye. Talk to you later dear, I love you.

I saw that — I wonder if there’s any way to collect the full clips from each of the speeches where he’s pulled this trick? I’d be interested in seeing exactly what he says immediately prior to the other calls.
I had thought this was just a way to gloss over his past infidelities by showing how lovey-dovey he is with his wife...but it’s starting to look like something even slimier.
