Both Norwegian oil company Statoil and Norsk Hydro have struck more oil in territorial waters of the North Sea. It's not clear how much oil is involved.
Norway's oil directorate reported Monday that Statoil found the oil in a well that lies 35 kilometers east of the Gudrun field.
Statoil has a 30 percent stake in the area, along with the national agency Petoro that represents the state's direct oil investment and Det Norske Oljeselskap. Talisman Energy Norge AS has the remaining 10 percent, and Statoil is the operator.
The sea is 113 meters deep at the site of the oil discovery. The well was drilled to a vertical depth of 1.85 meters under the sea bed and ended at a bedrock.
The directorate said both Statoil and Norsk Hydro separately found new hydrocarbon deposits in the North Sea. Statoil is due to take over Hydro's oil and gas operations next month.

Yesterday I saw a documentary where it was said that nuclear plants was not the answer: we need 10 000 plants to sustain the amount of energy we currently are consuming - and with that many plants we would drain the world’s uranium resources in 2 decades.
I believe you are right that there is a technological sollution to this - it could be cold fusion, it could be solar power, but my point is that the transition will come gradually, we won’t end up in a mad max scenario over night.
You mean to tell me that the oil was less than six feet in the ground!!!! That hole must have taken a whole ten minutes to drill!! Yes it was in deep water, but still!
Nah - that was a typo in the original article- I pasted the info from Statoil in post 2:
!The well was drilled to a total depth of 1,856 metres below sea level. The water depth in the area is 113 metres.”
...so it was a deep drill after all.
Oh, how sad! When I was there it was clean and prosperous. I loved Oslo. I should write my relatives and find out what’s going on. Why doesn’t the government DO something to get rid of these creeps?
The socialist governments through the years have made it impossible to speak out against the immigration - everything is now so PC in Norway that if you critise our new countrymen you are immideately labeled as a racist.
It’s all about feminism and soft values in Norway now.
Yesterday there was a debate about the mohammed drawings and the socialist participant thought that is was (quote)”stupid stupid stupid” to print the drawings - it was a terible thing to upset the islamist’s feelings.
In connection with the softening of Norway, the defence forces are declining at a rapid pace as bases and units are axed all the time.
I heard they have drilling ships that can accurately hover over a spot using GPS and multiple props. I look for oil prices to drop once W is out of office.
Probably right. What could also happen is the discovery of a power source heretofore not even considered. An example is the radiation of salt water by microwaves which is said to actually cause the water (or the salt) to burn, giving off heat and of course energy. Of course you need electricity to generate the microwaves so who knows how efficient this will be.
Oh, my. How sad is this? I love Norway and all things Norwegian and it breaks my heart to hear this. I know it’s pretty socialistic. My mother was a bit, too, as I look back on things she said. Din, Maryxxx
I know, it’s sad, but there are some good news - in the municipal elections a week ago the Socialist Left party took a big beating and the conservatives did well - hopefully we get a new conservative government after the national elections in 2 years time...
That IS good news. Do you live in Oslo? I have several cousins there. M
I just read on Elijah List, a prophecy that says God is digging the old wells in Norway that affected England so many years ago. That means wells of revival, but I believe when God does something spiritually, He also does it physically, such as new wells found off the coast of our dear Norway. Interesting. God has good things planned for Norway.
Why not? ‘As above,so below’, as the masons say.. If God has plans for Norway, many isn’t listening. Lots of non-believers here. Btw, I live in Bergen,on the west coast :-) I am for one truly blessed to live here, it’s a nice place.
Well, with God, His Holy Spirit is the one who awakens people from their spiritual sleep. When He begins to move with an anointing, people will listen. That’s why we pray for revival, so people can get saved and set free from satan’s clutches.
Bergen always sounded nice to me, too. I was in Oslo, Raufoss, Lillestrom, Frederikstad, when I went in 1983 with mom. I loved Raufoss and Frederikstad. I have relatives there, too. Love, M
God bless you! Those are nice places too, but Bergen is nicer ;) I know a beatyful girl from Fredrikstad, who has a mother from the US! The mother is a nutrition-doctor,or something..do you know that family?
No. I know the Thogerssons (sp)and that’s it.
Heh I’m sure they are a nice family, but I don’t know them. Norway isn’t THAT small... :)
I only know cousins in Oslo, Frederikstad, Eina, Lillestrom. My knowledge of even them is limited (LOL). Good people though.
