That's right. But they also are sometimes prosecuted to make an example of, or for the prosecutor to make a name for himself. And that can be used to get a conviction overturned or set aside.

So I ask you: Do you want him in jail for 6 months and released because his lawyers convice a judge the prosecutor went ahead for political gain, or for 12 years because the evidence was valid and there was no doubt that the DA was doing his job for the right reason?
