A Fresno television news anchorwoman has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and two counts of felony child endangerment after officers found her passed out in her SUV with her two young children inside, Fresno police reported Tuesday.

She did not go quietly into that good night.

"Frankeberger became combative with officers who handcuffed her and tried to put her into a patrol car, Cardinale said. Frankeberger refused to walk to the patrol car and had to be carried, he said. She allegedly kicked one of the officers in the chest.

Breath tests for Susie Frankeberger, 44, a noon anchorwoman on KGPE, Channel 47, showed a blood-alcohol content of 0.32% and 0.31% when she was arrested Sunday night in north Fresno, said Jeff Cardinale, a police spokesman. The legal blood-alcohol level in California is 0.08%.

This woman's lucky to be alive. I think it's safe to say she's not going to see her kids for a while.

When officers arrived, Frankeberger allegedly was found passed out behind the steering wheel of her 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe. Inside were a boy and a girl who appeared to be about 10 or younger, Cardinale said.

The children allegedly told officers that they had been to a party, that their mother had fallen asleep while driving, and they had been trying to wake her up before the vehicle stopped.

Blew a 0.32% and the 2 kids, the oldest 10 had to keep waking mommy up while she was driving home from the party. Very sad.

The golden boy NBC morning news anchor in Winston-Salem ran down and killed a guy on a sidewalk while DWI earlier this year. His BAC was something like 0.25 three hours after it happened. They sentenced him to two years in prison.

I am surprised that she could even get in the vehicle to drive with that level alcohol. Luck was with her kids that they are still alive.
