hehehe Well, SOME people think it was true. I guess I should have said that it was initially posted on one of our web sites as “a true story” by the “author” - but turned out to be a crock (as usual) posted by a conspiracy theorist. Sorry to be so obvious. /shrug

Seriously, probably, "Religion of Peace".

Pretty good work of fiction, in my opinion.

Man has a point. What I find incredible, especially in Europe, is that they’ve seen all of this before from Islamists. It’s what brought on the dark ages.

I was really impressed with Hyperion. The Shrike is bad ass. But to me, what really stands out is the whole idear of a Sci-fi Canterbury Tales.

“In other words, Bush was right.”

President Bushes efforts have been half a$$ed and tepid..

There is not effort to achieve victory and peace only some semblance of stability so corporations can make money.

Perpetual War for Perpetual Profits thats all.

Keep in mind those in Power are not losing their sons and daughters, husbands and wives.

There is no way in hell there will be public support for the kind of strict religious practice of Islam. This time traveler knows history, but hasn't heard of "follow the money." There's no money to be made off of making the US an Islamic state.

Couldn't the same have been said about Afghanistan? Weren't women free to be educated, doctors, professionals, etc.? How did it change? I don't remember the Taliban rolling any tanks into the state. It must have rotted from the inside.

The US and even Western Europe love sex way too much to allow Islam to take over.

People who have had countless dates and strings of meaningless "relationships"(sexual hook-ups) often become the hard-core converts of religion, because they have giant voids in their souls. In Great Britain and Europe, why are ANY women converting to Islam? It directly conflicts with the freedom they have grown accustomed to in the West. Yet, they willing don the hijab and fight for the right to be oppressed?

Simple answer. We are creatures made by God. Our souls long to be with God. Anything else is found to be empty chaff.

Afghanistan was in a state of chaos, corruption and civil war as a result of the country not having a stable government and the Taliban promised to clean it all up and bring peace. They were also more organized than any other military force in the country. The US doesn't fit any of that. The Afghanis didn't realize what Taliban social policy was all about, either. The Taliban even promised to allow lay Muslims to run the government as soon as possible, but, of course, didn't follow through on that.

No one in the US thinks Muslims are at all normal. There were plenty of Muslims in Afghanistan, even if they felt the Taliban interpreted the Koran wrongly in putting an end to seemingly harmless things like cheering at sporting events.

There is literally zero chance that Muslims will take over the US, ever.

Fortunately(?), the US has plenty of pentecostal fire and brimstone churches that are either up and active or ready to spread at a moment's notice. Any woman in this country that wants to get righteous, will join a regular church. Speaking of Christianity, Christmas is big enough all by itself to keep sharia at bay. It's a nearly 40 billion dollar behemoth.

Also, pop culture isn't as big in Europe as it is here. We have much more of it-- magazines and tv channels. Americans are so bored with their jobs and lives that they need pop culture to stay happy. The internet in the US would also keep sharia out of the US for the same reason-- too many people are addicted to it. Some neo-Taliban wouldn't have a chance in hell of dealing with Americans who are without the internet, the NFL, American Idol, and Christmas morning.

“White Sox win the Series?” I muttered into the silence. “Fat chance.”

I'll believe it when I hear that the Cubs win the World Series.
