Actually, for once I have a request, but, of course, since it's Tanniker Smith, there's a story to go with it:
My SIL and BIL, who are also my tenants, are moving out tomorrow. Actually, most of their stuff has already been moved out because their house is only a block away. But even though they are moving from 4 rooms to 3 floors (including the finished basement), they are still tossing stuff. Tonight, I noticed next to the trash, a pile of LPs. And let me tell you that's it is nice to presently be in the company of people who know what those are!
Anyway, me being me, I quietly scanned through the collection, even though I didn't dare bring any into the house. Nothing that I needed anyway. My wife repurchased many things on CD, including the Monkees stuff, the Sting stuff. But there was one little oddity that I hadn't heard in years:
Kon-Kan's "I Beg Your Pardon", which sampled heavily from "I Never Promised You a Rose Garden", long before the current wave of oversampling. It was from back in the 80 IIRC.
Thanks in advance.
I love a good story Tann....makes everything more interesting!
I bet miss Lauren prolly has that one up her sleevie....
I so lament every getting rid of my LP's. I guess it's purely sentimental.
