Dear Friends,
We all want to see Ron Paul as the next president of the United States. In order to get there, he will first have to win the Republican nomination. I have seen him state on television that he will not run as a third party candidate, so it is vital that he win the nomination. This article from Wikipedia outlines the Republican primaries schedule.
Why is this important? As alert reader Verbatim writes:
As you may realize, there are many people from across the spectrum planning to support Ron Paul: Libertarians, Constitutionalists, Green Party members, disenfranchised Democrats, and of course the disenfranchised Republicans.
Many of these people may not realize that they NEED to change party affiliations to Republican to vote in the GOP Primary in many States. I think this information is important to get out as is instructions on how to change ones' party affiliation and the DEADLINE for each State. I think this information would be useful on every Ron Paul supporter website in existence, even if it is simply linked to.
Thanks, Verbatim
This is the preliminary schedule...

No I said I was a Classical Liberal. Most conservatives and Republicans have always been Classical Liberals (at least prior to the past ten years). Do me a favor and look up the terminology. Most of the Framers would be considered Classical Liberals as well
In this match-up, I believe Rudy wins. I believe a third party Paul drains more votes from Hillary than from Rudy.
I like your tag...”Republicans who support Rudy owe Bill Clinton an apology”
Jack Ryan, calm down! Allen forgot that in order to run for President, he needed to win first in Virginia or GET OUT OF THE RACE - which Romney did. He shot himself in the mouth. And you said nothing about Talent and Santorum - Pennsylvania is now a Blue State. Period.
I’m not your “pal”, pal!
Or Ross Perot!
Reagan Democrats, like Ronaldus Maximus himself, were/are patriots and social conservatives. PaleoPaulie’s new friends are antiAmerican, antimilitary, antiwar, and generally either doper libertoonians or outright leftist Demonrats. We can do very well without both categories.
Reagan left the Democrat Party because the party left their pro-American belief structure and became wholly socialistic.
Those “Zell Miller” type Democrats often VOTE Republican as a result. But they don’t switch parties to manipulate the party nomination process to suit their otherwise Democrat views. They simply vote across party lines rather than down party lines.
I have NO problem with someone changing party affiliations for the purpose of adopting that parties fundamental belief system. My problem is with people changing parties for the purpose of changing that parties belief system via temporary manipulation of that party.
It’s called hijacking.
We don’t like it when foreigners come to America and demand America adopt thier belief systems. We demand that they adopt American belief systems if they want to call themselves Americans.
The same is true (or should be) of political parties. If you adopt the belief system of the party when you switch, by all means, come one come all.
But not if you seek to thwart that parties belief system. That’s how we got to a RINO party in the first place.
In a Hillary vs. Rudy vs. Paul election, who do you think wins?
Paul.
JSDude1: People who oppose the mission of our troops at war are antiAmerican whether their names may be Ramsey Clark or Jane Fonda or paleoPaulie or Justin(e) Limpwrist Raimondo of antiwar.com
By bringing in MoveOn.org and Code Pinko members?
You can’t be serious!
What? Ross Perot has visited those bathrooms? Was there any foot tapping, size 6 1/2 going on?
Thompas Jefferson was “Classical Liberal”, as in, one who strongly supports “individual liberty”.
This definition of “liberalism” has not existed in America since Jefferson died.
with 2% ???
LMAO!
Paul.
So you're saying, despite his denials, Paul may well run as a 3rd party candidate? Is that correct? If you, a Paulbot, believes that, why should we believe his protestations?
If you don't believe he'd do that, why post this comment?
Yep. And some “Republicans” (in name only) who aided the Gore recount legal team said that they were “Republicans” who thought Gore was getting cheated.
I hear you. We probably think alike on most issues. That said, conservatives, libertarians and Christians will just have to get along if we want the Republican Party to win and represent our respective beliefs and interests.
SEMPER FI!
Voting? Ok.
It will come down to “top priorities” in the end.
We will unite behind the one who can win in ‘08, and focus on our top priorities, which we most likely agree upon, with the exception of anti-war libertarians.
But then, libertarians have the same problem as leftists in their anti-war strategy. Neither take into account the fact that we can quit the war, but the war won’t quit us...
I was just answering the hypothetical question posed by Antoninus. Frankly I don’t see Rudy or Hillary getting the democrat nomination, nor do I see RP switching parties.
