I'm really glad there is nothing more pressing in your life than a need to complain about someone wearing shoes to a job in an air conditioned building, where they are doing some type of work that benefits someone, somewhere.

...then it's obvious you have never been in an earthquake....

I was in the Loma Prieta (SF) earthquake in SF in 1989 and the Nisqually (Seattle) quake in 2001.

I will NEVER wear shoes to work in which I can't

1) run somewhat decently 2) climb down 20+ flights of stairs without holding up everyone coming behind me

I would think after 9/11 women would have more sense.

Seriously? You dress daily in case of WWIII or some huge disaster? Do you carry extra water and a shovel with you too?

Sorry you were in a disaster - many of us have lived in areas that flood or have tornados - we don't carry boats or stay near tornado shelters "just in case".
