Last night in the galley, an ensign asked what right do we have to tell a sovereign nation that they can’t build a nuke.

I need some Navy help here (I was Army), but on a large ship isn't a "galley" the kitchen area, where the cooks work, and the "mess" where the crew eats? Would a LSO be in "the galley" at night? Doesn't sound right to me. The use of the term galley may be a giveaway.

Yep, the galley is a cooking area, an Ensign would eat in the Wardroom.

Even this old Marine remembers that. We use the same terminology on ashore.
