Geraldo often tries to explain away his behavior and remarks with some aside about his Spanish background. But it doesn’t work. He’s a jerk, and he sounds like a jerk every chance he gets.
I have no idea what Geraldo's racial or ethnic provenance is. I do know he was known as 'Jerry Rivers,' then highlighting some real or imagined ancestry to become "Hispanic" in order to get work on a NYC TV station. I do know he married the boss' daughter, perhaps more than once!
He certainly does not speak very good Spanish ... about a sophomore level, I'd say. Anybody know the real story? I think it "racist" in the extreme to blame a negative personality trait on ancestry, doubly so if it really isn't yours!
